Any Way To Port A Boinc Client To Xbox (xbe)?
« on: August 03, 2006, 05:04:00 PM »

Just had an idea, tried the search and got nothing.

Is it possible for someone to port a BOINC client to the xbox that could be run under XBMC? I use my Xbox1 as a media frontend for my network and it seems like such a shame to waste cpu cycles considering the console's on for most of the day.

So i'm thinking, if someone could port BOINC to XBMC, i (and a lotta other BOINC users out there) could crunch some extra Work Units while watching videos or listening to the shoutcast directory.

The client doesn't need a GUI. Just a start/stop feature with a config file that allows input of IPs/domain names that can remotely access it. This way users could use BOINCview to control/update the client remotely from PC.

What d'ya reckon. Is it feasible?

EDIT: Sirmatto mentioned in the thread at http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=511990 that you could compile the source code of an app using the XDK to turn it into an XBE app. Since i don't have the XDK, can anyone that does compile the latest BOINC client (found at http://boinc.berkele...s_platform.php) and share it?
