I doubt it is possible.
after all, MS never makes anything open source, making it even harder than usual to port them.

Yeah, you can go on MSN through your Xbox. But you have to do it through Linux. There is a Linux emulator for it. Oh yeah, and you can also run versions of MS Windows through the xbox (like win 98) so u could do it that way.

It's perfectly possible (and not too hard) to write an MSN client, or an IRC client, or any other chat protocol, for the Xbox. But, I don't think anyone has bothered, since most people don't have a keyboard and so on.

You can run Linux and then use GAIM or another open source instant messaging client.

There are a number of xbox-linux distributions that run from CD, check xbox-linux.org, but you can just install Gentoox, if you want.. the installer will boot directly from CD if you burn it and stick it in the softmodded xbox. It's safe to do it on a softmodded box, just make sure when you choose the install options to pick to install the files to E or F. The 'native' install option will erase everything on your F partition so don't do that smile.gif The E and F options will just create a bunch of extra files on E or F as you choose, and none of the files will conflict with or touch your softmod in any way - I had Gentoox on my softmodded box (though I now use a custom Gentoo install instead).

It's not a linux 'emulator', it's just Linux, btw smile.gif The xbox can run Linux natively once you have a mod, just as if it was a PC, there's no emulation of anything required.

And then there was Beup, a homebrewn MSN client for the Nintendo DS, shedding some light on your thoughts of wether it is possible or not tongue.gif And it's not just a partial port either. The thing even supports display images.

It's obviously possible, and has been for years; there are hundreds of third party MSN clients, some of which support pretty much every feature of the official one.

msnx allready works, it's an xbmc script.
it's not really stable, but updating the script will fix that.
