Xbox Recording Software?
« on: January 23, 2006, 09:39:00 PM »

I was on my favorite Nintendo emulator today (FCEUltra) and I noticed that there is an option to record in-game footage and I was wondering if anyone figured out how to record in-game footage of xbox games. If this is just impossible, I apologize for asking a noobie question.

I know you can use capture cards to record xbox footage, but I think it would be cool if I could just record stuff directly from software.

I'm not sure, but to me it'd seem impossible to have a bckground program running on the xbox to capture the video. However it's fully possible to do this via your computer with a debug xbox, but it's pretty hard to set everything up. But it's definitely possible.

You can use the XDK and the program Xbmovie.exe.

Or, you can setup your Xbox using the Xbox Debug Installer, and then install the Xbox Capture Kit and you can take movie from your pc of what is happening on the Xbox.

Two different ways of doing the same thing.  When I use XCK, though, I get no sound with the videos.  Is that normal?

I don't believe the XDK captures sound.  It would be too much load on the system really.  Ever wonder why there is always music in preview videos?  You could always splice out of the the outputs and put them into the line in of your PC, and start recording video, then sound as soon as possible then start playing.  You could then put them together and cut off the extra bit.
