Complex Tools Help
« on: October 25, 2005, 11:19:00 AM »

Hi All,

Hopefully someone can help me with this noobish question.  I was successfully able to setup my smb share for XBMC but am having difficulty editing the complex tools xml file to point to the correct location.

Here is the info that is working for XBMC

    <samba>
        <workgroup>MSHOME</workgroup>
        <smbip>192.168.0.100</smbip>
        <smbsharename>(SMB) Network</smbsharename>
        <defaultusername>xbox</defaultusername>
        <defaultpassword>-</defaultpassword>
        <winsserver>-</winsserver>
        <debuglevel>0</debuglevel>
    </samba>

The format requested for the complex tools samba share should be self explanitory, but I am too retarded to figure it out.  The layout is as follows:

<smbdir1>smb://workgroup;login:password@machine/share/</smbdir1>

Can someone please help me jam my information into the complex tools format?  Some possibly unrelated information, the specific share I want to access is located on the computer named (Cl0ne) in the (X:\XBOX ISOS) dirctory.

uhh, I need the same "knowhow", if someone would be so kind.
I have searched and searched for a way to get Complex tools to connect to my PC, and have found nothing... thought I found an answer (through Google cause scene search is down), but the when I tried to register @ ** Links to Xbox Warez and Torrents **.com (only place google kept pointing me to), and tried to access the forums where it was talking about this, it popped up "only users with special powers can access this area"...lol wtf?

I have figured out (ya right) that the reason Im not connecting(like in XBMC) is because I have my whole PC shared, for Complex Tools it says in the readme that you can only have one directory in the share.

<smbdir1>smb://workgroup;login:password@machine/share/</smbdir1>

<smbdir1>smb://Mshome;xbox:XXXXXX@HPPAV/share/C:\Windows\Desktop\isos</smbdir1>
                                      ^
                                      | right here is where I first become puzzled...do I need to (somehow) create a usernam, I did already put a pw on the folder for sharing (on top of already being shared from sharing my C Drive) but I seen nowhere to add a username in there.(right clicking on the folder, then selecting shared properties)

<smbdir1>smb://Mshome;xbox:XXXXXX@HPPAV/share/C:\Windows\Desktop\isos</smbdir1>
                                                                       ^
                                                                       | this is the next place I get lost... do I remove the word "share", and put my directory right there?

any links,answers, would be GREATLY appreciated& #33;````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
```````````````
as I stated above, I have searched (for a few hours now) so please dont flame me for not searching, cause googles coming up with notta.
Slader,
  The way you want it stated for Complex (if the XBMC works like you said) is this:
CODE
smb://MSHOME;xbox:password@192.168.0.100
  You need to make sure that if you have a password you put that above where it's underlined.  If you don't have one use this:
CODE
smb://MSHOME;[email protected]
  Last part, if the directory you are sharing has sub-directories and you want those shared instead of the root, ex. C:\Xbox (as the root) C:\Xbox\Games (as the one you want) you'd add "/Games" without the " marks between 192.168.0.100 and </smbdir1>
(Sorry if this is written too "simple" I don't mean to imply anything about intelligence, just wanted to help you get it right) :)
Master Reefed,
  First read that part to Slader, that will hopefully help a lot.
  Second, if I'm not mistaken what it meant in the readme (I don't have Complex running, cause I'm having "other" issues) is that you can only have one samba listed, it doesn't mean how many directories are in that root. (Someone please correct me about this if I'm wrong).
  What I mean by that is you could have shared for ex.
    C:\Xbox
      Games
      Music
      Roms
      Video
You'd create the link for "C:\Xbox" based on how you named it when you shared and the Games, Music, etc. would be seen inside that directory.
Hope this helps guys.
It took me a little while to understand what I was doing. But here is what worked for me.
I shared C:\xbox\games as "XBOXGames' in windows.
Open ComplexTools.xml
Run "CMD" in winxp and then type "IPCONFIG". The ip address is what you will use as your nameserver.
(usually something like 192.168.0.100)
To find out your full computer name and workgroup name, go control panel --> system --> Computer Name tab, the info is right there.
Here is the default code:
<smbdir1>smb://workgroup;login:password@machine/share/</smbdir1>
Here is my code which I got to work:
<smbdir1>smb://MSHOME;xbox@Halo2/XBOXGames/</smbdir1>
"MSHOME" is my workgroup name, I didn't mess with login/password so just putting xbox seems to work fine. "Halo2" is my full computer name and "XBOXGames" is my share name in windows.
The other posts on here helped me get it to work, but I thought I'd add my bit since I had sucess. thanks!
