My Samsung (SDG-605,x010,October 2003) drive recognize my original games as DVD movie. This happens whit the modchip disabled too. I tried a Thompson player in the same xbox an it works without problems. Games on DVD-R, music, movies plays ok on the drive.

Whats wrong with mye Samsung drive ?

Did you do anything to it.. try to tweak it? If not im not an expert on things but could need a new laser. and is it all the time or just most of the time?

No, i just installed a modchip in my xbox, after that the drive will not work with original games. Both EvolutionX dash and MS Dash recognize original games as DVD movie. I tried the Samsung drive in 2 others xboxes and the same problem appears.

Have you tried to play burned cd's in it.  All the samsungs that I have ran across play burned cd's, but of course if you say it is reading the games as a DVD, there may be a bad calibration.  I always thought samsungs were pretty good. Myself I want to put a whole new disc drive in my XBOX if possible.

I've been having the same problems with my Samsung drive reading XBOX games as DVD movies. If you find anything out let me know.
