Help Configuring Linksboks Please
« on: June 06, 2005, 11:37:00 AM »

I've been searching and reading for hours in the forums trying to figure out how to get Linksboks configured properly and I haven't been able to find the answer I've been looking for.

I've got Linksboks installed (version 0.99) and it runs but doesn't connect to any websites properly. When I try to connect by typing in the address such as "www.yahoo.com" it wont connect however when I try to connect using a direct IP address such as Yahoo's I get some text, no pictures and then it just hangs. I've read in a couple of threads this is because my DNS servers aren't set up correctly. Can someone please tell me how to go about setting up my DNS servers?

I've got my Xbox connected to a router and my comp is running Windows 98SE.

unsure.gif Or is it that nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about? Am I way off on the DNS idea in the first place?

Is there anyone out there that has linksboks up and running? If so did it work right off the bat? What and how did you have to configure it to work?

Well here is one solution I found but it's not the ideal solution. Here is a post from someone else:

Well,

Hmm...

My settings for Evox +3935 are as follows:

Setup Network Yes
Use Static IP Yes
IP 192.168.0.3
Subnetmask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway (blank)

DNS 0.0.0.0
DNS 0.0.0.0

That works great for FTP with FlashFXP, but if I want to use Linksboks(rarely) I change "Use Static IP Yes" to "Use Static IP No". Then I save, exit and reboot.
Then I luanch Linksboks and it works fine, except it freezes once in a while."

I actually got linkboks to work now because of this method. I don't like the fact that I have to constantly switch my evox settings all the time but if there is still someone out there that knows how to do this with a static IP then please let me know.

You put the ip address of your router as the gateway and DNS1 in evox.

Or if doesn't work you go in the linksboks (0.99 version) options manager, Xbox-specific options > Network settings and you set "Reconfigure network" and "Use DHCP" to yes.
