Hdd Loader Goes Freaky Mad!
« on: January 18, 2005, 01:21:00 PM »

First off, sorry if this is the wrong forum but I looked around and couldn't find a fitting forum to post this.

Here's what's up.  Last night I started up hddloader and before my very eyes all my games were being deleted!  It said searching for games but I noticed my hard drive free space was climbing like crazy.  I rebooted real quick and went back just to see what was going on and again it started with the deleting.  WTF!  It was horrible!

Anybody hear of this happening?  Could there be any delete commands in games or emulators or roms.  It's like I was in the Twilight Zone!

So I start up HDDloader to check out the file number of some games I need to transfer and notice that my free space on drive is going up at an astronomical rate.  WTF!  It was supposedly refreshing the list.  I crapped, rebooted real quick and sat in disbelief.  Checked out my games and sure enough I was missing about 5.  So then I started HDDloader back up and just sat there and watched it finish the job.....no more games!

Has anyone heard of this happening?  I just installed XBMC over the weekend and also an Atari emulator(z26a) and the roms.  I noticed KoTOR II was glitchy too, was the first time playing it and first time with a save.

So after I go into the settings of xbmc and point Kai to look into f:\hddloader for my games, the next time I load up hddloader it says "refreshing list" but it is actually deleting my games!  Free space just goes up and up until they are all gone.  Sure enough on reboot they are no longer there.  NICE!

I dl'd a copy from a torrent file I found somewhere.....can't remember where.  It has the dates of 1/2/05.  WTF is up?  This just blows goats!

OK.   I found what was up.  XBMC/Kai is deleting f:\hddloader.  After I re-installed everything like it was before I went thru step by step and found this to be the key.....after pointing Kai to f:\hddloader to look for games the next time you start up hddloader it erases everything you have on it!!  SWEET!

OK.  Figured out the problem.  After I go into XBMC and set Kai to look at f:\hddloader for games the next time I start up hddloader it says "refreshing list" and all the games are being deleted, I can see my free space going up while this is going on.  Nice!

I actually had this problem, and replicated it on 4 other xbox's i will explain in detail.

1. Made XBMC My default Dashboard
2. Went into "My Programs" - "Programs"
3. Load PxHDD Loader
4. Install Game to Hardrive
5. Press Refresh and you can see the freespace go up as it realizes the game was never there.

Fix : Use dvd2xbox

Get a new build of XBMC as well.

While the bug of deleting is the HDDLoader, XBMC generates the thumbnails as default.tbn.  There was an XBMC bug that generated it as F:\Games\SomeGamedefault.tbn instead of F:\Games\SomeGame\default.tbn.

For whatever reason, HDDLoader saw the F:\Games\SomeGamedefault.tbn and removed the actual game.

The thumb generation has been fixed in XBMC, but HDDLoader should fix their bug.

So, anyhow, upgrade XBMC to fix the thumbnail generation.

2: Then just backup your games to the hdd again. It very easy as you have the originals. Becouse you do have the originals dont you?
