I seem to be having trouble with dvdx2.  I'm not sure if i'm doing anything wrong or not.  I copy the files to f:\apps\dvdx2.  Using Unleash-x, I put in a dvd and go to launch dvd (the config.xml came configured pre-set to automatically go to f:\apps\dvdx2\default.xbe) but the screen just goes black and back to the dashboard.  I've tried searching the forums but it says the menu has been disabled and I don't feel like going through hundreds of pages of forums to look for something like this.

(With sarcasm) Gee, I guess nobody in this forum is smart enough to help me with this problem.

Gee! I guess you're just too damn lazy to use the search function!

Wow.  It's almost as if you didn't read the original post at all.  I clearly said that when I search it says the menu has been disabled.  You either saw this and thought to yourself "I'll wait for a day when the menu isn't disabled and tell him to use the search option" just so you could bash me.  It seems with all of the trouble you may have gone through to bash me, you could have just helped me instead of waiting for the search to work.  Anyway, the search didn't help at all.  It gave suggestions to people who never reported back on whether or not the suggestion worked or not.  As I said before, my unleashx config.xml is edited to point to f:\apps\dvdx2\default.xbe when I put in a dvd.  When I hit "Launch DVD" the screen just goes black and I'm right back in the unleashx main menu.  So either give me some useful advice instead of ridiculing me for not using the search option, which I did, or keep your comments to yourself.  I just want some help, DICK.

See what you made me do.

Same result, just goes right back into the unleashx main menu.  If you plan on helping me, I really appreciate it.

(that was sincerity)

What files do you have exactly in f:\apps\dvdx2 and subdirs?

This is exactly what I extracted from the iso in the rar file from xbins.  In the root:
fonts and textures folders, default.xbe, gamepad.xpr, padding.bin, and resource.xpr.  In fonts:  font12.xpr and font16.xpr.  In textures:  bookmark and notallowed3.  This is exactly how it looked after extracting the iso.

I've used dozens of different dvds, from Office Space to Final Fantasy.  The dvd drive reads them, because at the corner of the screen it says video.

Oh, and by the way, I have tried downloading the file again, three times, and I just get the same results.

Your ISO extract tool is probably broken.

Root should contain "default.xbe" and "media" folder. And you guessed right, all other files should be in media:
media\gamepad.xpr
media\resource.xpr
media\fonts\blah
etc.

"Qwix" is a good extraction tool imo.

Thanks alot, worked like a charm.  I couldn't understand for the life of me why it wasn't working and there weren't any other problems matching mine to be found.  Now, I'm off to watch Clerks.  Thanks a million.

You mean all your DVD'd can be played on you xbox using dvdx2?

My question is did you get DOLBY DIGITAL or DTS while playing? Do you use Advanced AV pack or HD AVpack?

vocalmind:  My Xbox is hooked up to my stereo using the Monster Xbox cables, and the additional fiber optic monster for audio (not HDav Pack, and I don't think this counts as Advanced, but I am not familiar with those products, so I could be wrong).  When using the normal xbox and DVDX ver 2, I was able to get DTS playback.  Just to be certain, I will test it again tonight, but I have seen the DTS light on my receiver turn on showing it's getting a true DTS signal.
