I don't know if he still is or not, but Lantus was looking at the DOOM Legacy source code with intentions of porting it...

...but it has been a while since that has been brought up.

Legacy does not support the amazing lighting effects that JDOOM and its offspring do, but it will be supporting Quake 3 models VERY soon, and already supports 3D floors, which would be a great thing to have on the XBOX I think...

...even if we can't get the OpenGl side of things to work.

That HyperG crap is old, but ya it was what had initially cursed the DOOMX project back in the day, since then Lantus has taken a fresh interest in DOOM. I'm not sure if anything will manifest from it, but he did say a few months back that he was looking into prBOOM and Legacy...

...and I recall at the beginning of the year he told me he was watching Legacy as they work out there bugs in there C++ conversion.

So perhaps somewhere between a RickX bug speed issue fix, a Quake OpenGL update, some Quake 2 bug fixes, Duke 3D bug fixes, Surreal64, and what ever other surprises he may randomly drop upon us...

...we might end up with a port of DOOM in one incartation or another. At this point, though I am a die hard Legacy fanatic, I'd pretty much be happy with anything networkable with Deh and Free Look support.
