Port Leiro To Xbox!
« on: February 27, 2004, 12:54:00 PM »

For those of you who don't know Liero is an extremely fun, although old, freeware game based on worms except that it's in real time! It's like quake meets worms and never gets boring as long as you've got friends with you(the CPU AI kinda sucks ass). I think if it was ported to Xbox it would rule because you could use Xbox controllers instead of sharing the keyboard for split screen and possibly link multiple Xboxes together for loads of players.

You can get the original Liero easily off the net just use google, but what I'm playing at the moment is Liero Xtreme, an unofficial version of liero that wAs built with MS Visual C++ and it's open source so it could be ported easily.
Download Liero Xtreme at: http://lieroxtreme.t...e.com/index.php

Please support this, and if there's any Xbox devs out there who feel like porting this please feel free to.

GENERAL STUFF

Liero is freeware. What that means is that you don't have to pay
for it and using it has not been restricted in any way. You may
distribute it to anyone and anyhow WITHOUT ANY CHANGES MADE TO IT'S
CONTAINMENTS.

The source code of this game is not distributed freely (neither
commercially). So if you thought that maybe you could... forget it.

well, maybe i'm just blind, but i don't see any source code, i only see the game itself for download there, and upon some browsing i saw this on a liero website (not sure if its the official site or not)

No, that's the original Liero. I'm talking about a new version called Liero Xtreme, which is basically an exact clone of liero but with LAN and internet support.

I actually may have been wrong about Liero Xtreme being open-source though, I'll confirm this soon, but if that can't be ported there's another clone that's open source called LOSP(Liero Open-Source Project).See http://gliptic.dyndns.org/ for details.

I know what you think, if this is an Open Source project, where is the source then? Well, I've decided to wait to release the source until LOSP is in at least BETA stage. The current source would not be that helpful since it isn't finished yet.

not sure how long it will be, but at least we know the source will be available at some point which is always a good thing. maybe by the time the source comes out i'll have a clue as to how to do something useful smile.gif
