Help With Hotswapping
« on: October 09, 2005, 05:16:00 PM »

ok this is my scenario....

my friend installed a softmod on his xbox using mechassault. then being stupid or whatever somehow messed it up. now it only boots to the xbox logo screen then hangs. i am trying to hotswap and i just cant get it. i have only done it succesfully once before. and it is hard....anyways, what i do is...

turn on computer with xboxhdm disc in
turn on xbox
let the xbox boot untill it has the MS logo
unplug from xbox and plug into computer
press 2 in xboxhdm
type xboxhd
then it says that i have no hard drive plugged into /dev/hda, but i do.

i also have tried to use the error 12 method, so instead of unplugging it at the MS logo, i unplug it when the error screen comes up....
but it still says that i have to hdd pluged in. i also tried to do the hotswap then turn on my computer...that didnt work either.

please help me, my friend is getting pissed at me.....

sincerely,
donut <

Have the PC cdrom/dvdrom plugged in IDE 2 and leave IDE 1 loose for the xbox hard drive. Use the error 12 method and time it so the xbox led blinks red/green @5 times and swap ide leads just as the xboxhd cd boots to the options.

It's probably just a matter of timing .. good luck <
