Request For A Program
« on: January 03, 2004, 08:06:00 PM »

I'm sorry if this is the incorrect place to post this but since i couldn't find a better place...

i was wondering if someone could make a password program that is REALLY simple. i need one that will just require a key combination (L then R then Y then X, or something) while only displaying an "enter password" screen or something similar.  after the keycode is entered and the user presses START, the program should determine if it is the correct keycode, and if it is, then load an xbe to change the passcode or launch another xbe that can be preset (like evolution x or mxm). i need this cuz my stupid friends keep on messing up my xbox and i can't stop them from turning it on and changing shit. I tried to use X-Pass but its really obvious to anyone what password you are entering...doesn't take a genius to enter the same code. with a passcode that is just xbox keys and doesn't tell what you are entering, well then you can hide it and be free from deleted programs and f**ked up settings! thanks to anyone that can help!

if i asked for a bit much maybe just an app that you enter the keycode, press start, and it checks against a text file(mypassword.txt) or something then loads an xbe declared in a different textfile (goherepath.txt)
Damn i wish i had the Xbox SDK!

yeah i know some do (like mxm and unleashx) but i wanted a quick and dirty program that doesn't tell what you are entering, like a key combo such as X, Y, X, Y, A, Start and then launches an .xbe that is set from a text file.

something like this should be integrated in evox...

so "GAMES" folder is accessible without AUTH

"APPZ" & "SETTINGS" should require AUTH.

so that in evox.ini menue parts can be set to be protected by a key combo definable in evox.ini

It would be cool if it could run as a parameter in the evox ini.
like:
Item settings,pass:x,y,x,y,a
Then you could protect any item in the ini as needed

X-Select can password protect your dashboards from running on the hard drive. It is "key based" - so no need to scan a virtual keyboard or go through a lot of presses.

MXM has passwords for individual apps, but it's character based. The next release does have a virtual keyboard to make things easier, though.
