QUOTE (XDelusion @ Oct 19 2003, 06:20 PM)
If someone is serious about this, It would make my day, but alas I highly doubt it, no one seems to code anything for the XBOX but emulators, which I think XPort is doing a fine job of himself, it would be nice if some of the other coder's who keep porting more emulators that do the same stuff that we already have (more and more coleco emulators, sega 8-bit emus ect), would take time to start porting over more PC FPS's like Lantus.

More and more Coleco emulators? There are exactly two. Koleko-X came first, and though nice, was maybe 75% compatible. Even Donkey Kong (the pack in colecovision cart) was prone to crash in it. Xport's recent release of ADAM-X is 99% compatible and adds ADAM support which Koleko-X lacked. So no one has ported a coleco emulator after Xport ported a nearly perfect one. Frankly, though I would like to see Half Life and other FPS games ported, I am quite thankful that emulation appears to be the priority of the scene.

Well i dont know if any of you think its a bad idea but im on it! It s really great so finally see a port of HL1. The current deveopler of HL-X, Da_Frog is one hell of a porter and i hope the project is in progress...

About the source... Lets make it clear that there will be nothing of the hl2 source in the HL-X port... We will try to get as much of it out as possible...! But we dont know if it is possible to get all the HL2 data out of the source...!

If not so, a HL1 port running the HL2 engine will be possible... As it was leaked from Valve...

I think the reason to make PC ports to Xbox, is to make the pc experience on Xbox... Not to make the xbox a pc.. I have enough gaming and half-life on my pc... The reason to port games is to make it feel like it was made for the xbox... To play with a joypad and to play splitscreen.. Of course with system link support...!

Offtopic:

I dont know about you guys but i am pretty pissed of.. Why dont anyone port RTS on the Xbox? I think that RTS games could be pretty awsome to play on the xbox with systemlink...! Imgainge C&C Generals?!

I'd be over joyed to see anything non-emulator ported to the XBOX, but I have this funny feeling that once Lantus gets the SDL at a more stable state (or is it already?) that a lot more ports will be possible.

Speaking of which, does SDLx actually support 3D acceleration through OpenGL or is it software only?

So if Lantus gets SDL on xbox then all the games ported to SDL will work on XBOX?
That'd be smashing

He already did.
That is what the scummvm port uses.

As for opengl, xbox doesn't directly support it so it isn't a simple port to just enable gl  support, you need to port a gl wrapper also then.

I don't believe he has done that yet, or if he plans to.

Warcraft 2 for the Sega Saturn controlled really well.  I think FreeCraft source is around somewhere, but I think FreeCraft is no longer in development.

Keito-Kun: What is the deal with your masterbaiting poster child?

Anyhow, Da-Frog, sounds, good, glad to hear from you, I wish you the best of luck. I am not concerned about the legality of this project, so please expand a bit and explain how the sources from HL2 will work with HL1 levels? Did they leave the whole code intact and just build upon it, or what exactly?

Also will this mean that we'll have better model support such as with the Model Pack for the PC version of HL1?
