Counter strike was also ported to the new engine altho only 1 map has been converted it would still be great to play online and im sure someone could convert the other cs maps... HL1 would be a ace port.

well it'd be nice since the source is out, if someone added a feature to load game directly from pc hdd instead of having to waste space on xbox hdd
wouldn't like to load it from disc cuz of the load points
i know how shitty that is from a disc cuz half-life on dreamcast sucked ass when moving over level checkpoints, granted the xbox has 3 temp drives to play with
it might work better using temp drives if using disc loads but would require a bit more work
who knows

well, da_frog, that whouldnt be a hl1 port... it'd be a hl2 port running a hl1 port  tongue.gif
and second, i dont think waiting for valve to port hl2 is going to be very fun, the team (when/if there is one) should just do a sraight port of hl1, add controller support, dx menus and anything else you need

@Chicken Scratch Boy
no you have the whole half-life engine source code inclueded in the half-life 2 engine source code so all you have to do is get rid of the half-life 2 elements and that would save time space and compadability

I HAVE NO OBJECTIONS TO A HL1 PORT..hl2 port is a different storry that could hurt valves sales and they are releasing hl2 for xb anyways...not sure that it matters what i think but i think a hl1 port is all good, and if you need help with anything let me know id love to help.well i say good luck

i was also wondering think we should try to get a online play with xlink or somthing, or should we worry about that after the game is ported. (which will hopefully happen)

No one would waste time porting HL2 to xbox from a beta source, that would just be a waste of time, the commercial release will be out soon (fingers crossed) so why would anyone bother, when their efforts will be nowhere near as good as Vavle's own version.

As for HL1, I haven't seen/heard anywhere that there is a HL1 source available, freely or otherwise, and I doubt using HL2 stolen source would be a workable situation either. (if I'm incorrect, please post links)

the guy stole hl1 hl2 and counter strike source and he realeased fulll version of it all, originially only partial at first actually, but later released the full source for them.

what was released was the full source that was taken, which contained the mod source from halflife 1, meaning the ability to run mods of halflife... now halflife could be installed as a mod of itsself... then 5 days later, he released the entire "beta" that he had taken, precompiled from the servers, which included most of the models and textures, and a substantial number of sounds. he did also release a "patch" for the beta which was simply some missing models, textures, sounds, and replacements for models with the wrong version number which would cause large occurances of the word ERROR ingame.

At this risk of making myself a pain in the arse/ass....

Is there any news on a HL1 port? I know the HL1 source was an ill-gotten gain and there are lots of very good reasons why it shouldn't be done. But to be honest, I think many of us (including me) would love to see it put to good use to tide us over before HL2's released.

Sleep, are you working on it? If so, does it look feasible or practical? Is it weeks of work? Months?

Thanks in advance for any tit-bits of info you peeps might throw my way
