maybe the mod sources blink.gif but i think it's just fake

anyway, without the full source which should be a few hundred mb it is not possible to port half-life

source = text files. 35 Mb is allready quite a lott, actually it is 32.816.098 bytes.

and yes, it's the complete source.. not some mod only source or something like that

Interesting.

I'm checking it out right now.

but, of course, Half Life 2 is supposed to be coming out for the Xbox anyway.

Wow, I'm impressed.

It does indeed look quite genuine.  Files dated September 19.

Of course, it wasn't finished, but it had to be damn close. Perhaps we might see a 3-D engine for the Xbox out of this?

Gabe posted on the halflife2.net forums, and it is indeed the source code.  Here is a link to the thread.  http://www.halflife2...?threadid=10692

Although this is good in one way It really sucks in many more other ways. I just hope that it dosn't delay the release of Half-life2 or anything like that

The batch files are made for the developer's environment. If you had it set up with the correct paths and SDKs, it would probalby compile "fine"

Yeah, it will take a while to figure out. I'm not even sure you could to much anyway.... until the datafiles included with the game were available.

just curiouse think somone will get it all compiled into a semiplayable version? for the pc of course.

Hard to play it without the DATA FILES.  blink.gif

Don't you think?

However, it's obviously clear a true keygenerator will be available for HL2 when it comes out.

Also, the engine code is there... as I said, it would be interesting to see if a 3-D engine comes out based on this code (albeit a purely "warez" release)

It's not good in ANY way.

You're looking about more than 5 years of work by a talented bunch of people.  It's costed them millions, and as we've all seen, they've broken barriers with this one.  I find it saddening to see all that work stolen...

Shame on the thief... shame shame shame, a$$hole.

I'm all for open source... but this project is NOT open source (well... now it is).  Sorry to hear it, I truly am.

It's too late now  sad.gif  Sorry guys.

In the mean time, we may as well find some good in it and learn learn learn (not copy copy copy).  Consider this a grand opportunity to learn from the Gods  beerchug.gif

HL1 port would be pretty good, I haven't played it either.
I remember looking forward to the DC version before they canceled it (apparently it was finished too).

i've been told that's floating around now, might be worth checking out

Hear hear. I think that copying the code would only be moral if it was to make a port (to MacOS, Linux, xbox, etc) and not to crack it or steal it from winblow$

I was just poking around the source again and I found stuff for servers.  With this could a Half-Life server program be built to run on Xbox with relative ease?

any way, a hl1 (or 2!) port would be cool seeing as the hl2 xbox version may not be moddable or onlin play with pc players (same with cs)
