this seems almost impossible... what homebrew games have u tried?
and what about homebrew apps?

Some games like Duke Nukem and Quake require you actually own (or can find) files from the retail game. Try a game like Marbles or Ballzy and see if they work.

didnt realize the difference because i was able to play all my other games with that controller, but not the homebrews.

when i disconnected everything to take my xbox somewhere, i tried it again, but it seemed to work. that's the only conclusion i could come to.
