i really hate to think after all the soldering, video patch, and buyin a new hdd, and all the time and effort that has when into this damn xbox; that it could in fact be locked out because some glitch in a damn app.

hope that glitch doesnt end up costing me 200+bucks.....

make sure you have your xbox hdd set to master, not cable select or slave. that might be your problem

Error 7 means your jumper is in the wrong place. This is not a problem with Configmagic.

If you unlock your HD in Configmagic, it doesn't write to your EEPROM at all. In fact, the model of your HD is not in your EEPROM.

Its a jumper issue, not a "glitch" in Configmagic

I have no answers.... just curious now.  You say configmagic writes to your eeprom while editing on the fly.  Why did you need to do this?  When I lock or unlock drives, I just hit the unlock or lock command and it does it's thing.  Does this also write to the eeprom?  Maybe I have just been lucky in my locking and unlocking to never catch myself in your problem.  Any answers???

Lol, their 'on-the-fly' editing and a misread of the EEPROM was death to my XBox...

Luckily it was a software mod and my retailer didn't care, besides, instead of NTSC or PAL it now says UNKNOWN so, its not that suspicious, just sounds like a corrupt ROM biggrin.gif...

Edit: See below in my signature? Lol thats the Xbox...

You would not get a HHD Timeout if config magic screwed up.  You would get error 5 or 6.

It sounds to me more like you have a broken IDE cable.

IF you locked it with ConfiG Magic final, you should be able to unlock it. Hook your xbox HDD to your comp, and unlock it with the master password TEAMASSEMBLY (Case sensetive)

Have you locked your 120GB hdd?
Your XBox's HDD-key is now "TEAMASSEMBLY" and the HDD-key of your 120GB drive maybe isn't.

no never locked the 120GB.  never had the need to i guess.

i know they are both unlocked because i formated em in my pc since the prob.  i dont get it a error 7 is usually caused by the following

1. wrong jumper
2. bad ide
3. bad hdd

none of which is my prob, very weird.  i guess im kinda special now huh!

anyone know of any other reasons why i may be getting error 7?

thx all
