Ok, i have a 1.1  xbox with X2.0L old: X-ecuter2 4973, i already have an 1MB 4977 bios on
c: ready to be flashed through evox.  Only 1 problem, im chicken. The box is used every day for all sort of stuff so i wouldnt want it damaged.

using flashx 1.1, can i flash a 256k  4977 bios to a bank, and still keep the 4973 bios to boot if things fail.  And exactly how is this achieved?

its been so long since i last read about this  (8months), so ive forgot most about bios/flashing etc.

Since you have a lite and a 1.1 xbox you might just consider using flashx 1.0 on the first bank and leaving your 4973 on bank 2 for emergencies (or until the program gets fixed).  I have a pro and always keep a clean bios in reserve on bank 4 (of course I have a version 1.0 xbox so the original version of FlashX works fine for me).

ok, i havent opened the box since i put in the chip and drive.

but as i understand the old x2lite has only 2 banks of 512k. So i cant see it being affected by the bank 4 problem.

i dont know which bank the 4973 bios came on, with that old chip.

so if i put a 256 4977 bios in bank 1, and 4973 in bank 2. Where on the chip do i select which bank to boot with?

think i remember it was 3 jumpers on that chip.
