Easyuxe - An Uxe Package Installer
« on: January 17, 2005, 07:02:00 AM »

I got inspired by DaddyJ's Another GUI v.00 and wanted to creat a small and easy-to-use UXE autoinstaller. The app will run as a PC-side-client and connect to the subject Xbox via FTP. The final app wil contain no illegal files whatsoever, but it'll be compatible with any gamesave-hack that boots up EvoX, and will have support for the latest UXE complete packages.

The user will only be required to configure IP and FTP settings and hit the "backup"-function in EvoX. EasyUXE will take care of the rest: locating the EvoX-backup folder and transferring it to the PC, transferring a complete copy of the original C-partition and finally upload the selected UXE package to the subject Xbox. I thought it'd be a fun project, and some people might even find an app like this usefull  :)

The app will be written in VB.NET, and will therefore require the .NET Framework (widely distributed these days). I plan on having this app finished in 1 week or so.

No - I haven't read it before, but those are some great ideas!
However, I think it would be a little out of my league, but only if I had to do it all by myself.. ;) <

that is good.

i like these new pc based editors. this is good as its simple as shouldn't require too many n00bs asking questions, though they always find new things to ask :boring:

anyway very good work. yours along with another gui will totally rule the exploit scene, and make many lives easier. <

>Update<
It took me awhile to find a stable way of gaining FTP access to the box. I finally struck gold when I found this C# .NET ftp class that doesn't require PassiveMode when FTPing (kudos to big ben bullet for leading me down that road!!)

So, development is going swiftly, and a release should be do soon - in the meantime here are some screenshots  :) <

Just one note, looking at the screenshots..

While choosing the fontpack.. Rather explain right away which choice would be best to choose... I can already see the noob topics coming.. "Which fontpack should I choose" etc...

Furthermore.. Great work! Looks very slick ;) <

You're right - I'll make sure to add n00b proof font-pack-advice in blue writing  ;) <

Release-time (finally)  :)

Better late than never - a couple of real-life issues obstructed the developing  ;)

EasyUXE_v1.0b.rar

I haven't been able to test the following combinations:
CODE
#1)uxe_version=0.2.1 AND font_pack=71 AND lba48=enabled
#2)uxe_version=0.2.1 AND font_pack=61 AND lba48=enabled

Anyone out there with a +137gigs hdd and a big heart, would be more than welcome to test this out and report back..!
Note: the .NET-framework is required in order to run EasyUXE. <

*bump*
Noone with the framework installed has tested the app ? Any feedback would be nice!  ;)

Naturally: if noone sees any interest in this app, I'll continue to develop for noone, making sure that noone gets an updated / bugfree version of this soon-to-be pseudo application  <_<  :P <

I left the softmod scene a while ago when I got myself an X3, but I kept browsing and this app looks awesome. I'll download it now, backup my c and e and see how it goes.
I'll report back with news later.
