I have exactly the same problem. When I try to extract my .rar files I get the message 'The archive is either in unknown format or damaged'. I have tried a lot of extracter programs including the latest winrar version.
Does someone have an sollution to my problem?

all the files taht i download are in .rar file format. this is good, but i cant download a working rar extractor. can any1 give me a link to a working version of sumfin like winrar?

yeah thanks, but it still cums up wiv "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"" when u try to install it. this is what allways cums up. whi?

I use a proggy called Simply Zip. It's freeware so you should be able to find it easily. Perhaps download.com. It unrars and unzips.

I like WinRAR myself.

As mentioned, it sounds like your file is corrupt.

I prefer WinRAR. Get the most recent version to help "comaptibility". And redownload the file.

are you sure it isnt an .iso file?
