may be a bit too early, but could you possibly describe the xbox boot process emulator for us? how does it work? do you basically dump all of the files in a folder on your pc then the program mounts it as the C drive?

The Virtual Xbox checksums the XBOXDASH.XBE making sure it is valid, then reads the fonts, making sure that the default.xbe they point to is valid and properly signed, then reads the default.xbe to find the default dashboard that is loaded, and makes sure it is present.

Once this check has been complete, the entire setup is loaded into a Virtual Dynamic Disk, much like VM Ware Virtual Hard Drive, then a Kernal startup is issued, and the kernal will either return SUCCESS 0 or FAIL ##.

Where as ## would be a valid xbox error number.

Keep in mind that this is in no way a garentee, more of a safety precaution.

ok i understand that. but what i mean is, does it check the files on the xbox hard drive via ftp, by ftping over to the pc into a temporary folder, or does the user have to recreate the files on their pc themselves then run the emulator?

This highly depends on the user, if no PACKAGE is supplied, the CLient will attempt to retrieve the xbox's stock files, ftp the update.xbe to the pc, patch it, then procede to apply the rest of the part to build a new package.

However, any package can be sent to the virtual xbox to be tested.

Updated Package Dissassembler, can now recognize package type without the before needed package.txt file being present.

Updated Font & NKP Plugins to v.03 (not available for seperate download).

No new screenshots, will try to get a few more up this weekend, focusing on the Virtual Xbox Core, and also, the Package Editor & Verify functions.

Update:

A few small fix's in the gui were cleaned up, also a minor hole that was causing some file corruption was cleaned up.

The Virtual Xbox Core was once again updated, and has been around 80% accurate in determining whether a setup will boot. We are hopeing to get this number even higher, at least above 90% before the release.

NKP-Config plugin was updated to v.04 (not available for download), added the rest of the available options, and also fixed a few bugs in the input code.

Will post some screenshots later this evening...

Hoping to have a Beta out for testing within the next week or so. PLEASE DONT PM ME ABOUT TESTING. Everyone will be giving the same chance to test it.

Update:
Added FTP support for PASV. This will help a little in multi-dash ftp setup.

Added internal links to get the fonts, and patchers for the creating a softmod package from your own xbox's files. This will make it easier for the wizard to show you everything that it is doing from start to finish.

Added several small fixes to the GUI & internal coding.

I have been working on this, and hopefully am expecting to release it in BETA within a week or two... I will also release the source at that time.

Update:

Another GUI v.01 Alpha

We are in full alpha testing, which is going pretty smoothly, I am trying a bunch of different configurations, and it seems to be going good.

A few bugfixs are to be fixed before the beta stage, which should be soon.

Thanks to AtomiX & Cio for there help in making the VXF (Virtual Xbox Function) look real.

I look forward to releasing this. I have been working alot lately, so I wont be reporting much on this, next update should be the release of the BETA. \

***DONT PM Me asking to BETA Test, you will not be chosen.***
