Which One Is Better?

I use it because it lets me select the directory I want the files to go in, plus once it is copied, I can change the name of the directory to something that makes sense to me.  The program also has frequent updates.

I was using XBcopy for a long time and eventually switched to PX HDD Loader; now I'm back to the square one with DVD2Xbox.  I'll be honest, the interface isn't as aesthetically pleasing as HDD Loader, but I still think it's a better program.  It uses the default.xbe to name the folder (i.e., it would allow me to store 007AUF in F:\Games\AgentUnderFire instead of in F:\HDDLoader\Game11).  Saves me an extra step.  It also patches the media checks on the fly and decodes DVD-Video volumes to the HDD; whenever XBMP supports it, DVD2Xbox will be the way to go to store full DVDs with extras.

Also, I've mentioned many times before that DVD2Xbox is by FAR a better diagnostic tool.  If you've backed up a game with PX HDD Loader a few times and it's freezing or won't boot, HDD Loader may have experienced a read error...and never even let you know about it.  It still indicates the backup was successful.  DVD2Xbox will return an error saying it couldn't read a file, so you can know 100% that the backup was successful.

I tried using Dvd2xbox to backup my copy of KOTOR.  After checking my backup with Boxplorer, it was about 200 files short!  Imop use Hdd loader or Xcommander.

Ya, DVD2XBOX acts funky with Starwars, but it seems fine with every other titles I have used it on, so I'd keep XBCopy handy just in case.

DVD2XBOX said it could not patch my Starwars or something and would not even begin to copy at all. :/

I am HOPING that they add DVD 2 AVI to the program, DVD ripping is a must have, but just copying the files to the hard drive is not enough.

On the xbox?  blink.gif  You want to leave it running overnight  tongue.gif

Seriously, my video pc is a P4 2Ghz, with 512MB RDRAM, ATA133 7200RPM HDD, and it takes almost 2 hours to compress a 2 hour DVD movie using dvd2avi. (Using dvd2avi to create a project file and then Virtualdub to compress with divx.) My guess is, bare minimum, it would take 4 hours per movie.

I bet it would be quicker to compress on the PC and then FTP it over  jester.gif

I always chuckle when this one comes up. I hope someone gets this working and it only takes 1 hour per movie, so I can revisit this post and chuckle some more  biggrin.gif

I've read from several people that dvd2xbox uses the name in default.xbe to name the folder but this hasn't been my experience.

I've checked for this feature every time I get a new version and it never seems to work for me.  (I'm currently using 0.3.9)

The release notes claim that this feature has been in since version 0.2.0, anyone have any idea why mine would name the folders "dvd2xbox00x" instead of using the name from the default.xbe?

(After the disc is copied, evox has no problem finding the names in the default.xbe using the auto-add feature)

Thanks,
Flagg

Anyone?

Where can i download  Xcommander?

Dvd2xbox has failed me, and Hdd loader has failed me, but I've never had a problem with Xcommander.  I tend to use Hdd loader the most, since it's what I've been using from the beginning, but when that fails, I go to Xcommander and it works fine.

Sorry, no changes to the iso9660 code. I don't know why you've so much trouble with it.
Its far from being perfect (a lot of cds still hang) but I was able to rip some.  rolleyes.gif
To find the error is rather difficult because I have to dig in the XBMP iso source.
By the way I have also problems in XBMP with the CDs which causing problems in dvd2xbox.
