I would say the top ones are XBConnect and Xlink. Haven´t tried them very much myself since I´m on 56k, but I´ve only heard good stuff about them!! Why don´t you just try it out yourself?

Haven´t tried Xcommander, so i won´t say anything about it, but I´m very pleased with boxplorer, works perfect for me!

i like xlink the best for no lag, but xbconnect is the most used...stay away from gamespy, lag-o-rific...

i loved xcommander but it stopped working for me and i never resolved the problem...so no help there
