I am not completely certain what you're asking about.  But as far as manual removal of any fils, boxplorer works just fine.  FlashFXP works.  IE works (with ftp purposes, of course).

This is all assuming your connection to your XBOX is up and running properly...Check my sig if you need further help with that.

THIS IS A BIT OFF TOPIC BUT WHEN U DELETE  A GAME DOSE THE XBOX KEEP A TEMP IMAGE BECAUSE LAST WEEK I REMOVED HALO APART FROM THE DEFAULT.XBE WHICH HAS THE TRAINER WITH THE SUPER JUMP AND THAT AND WHEN I WENT 2 HALO IN EVOX THE GAME STARTED I PLAYED IT FOR 2 HRS WITHOUT THE DVD IN THE DRIVE AND THE ONLY THING ON MY HDD WAS THE DEFAULTXBE
