Dvdx2 Is Incredibly Unstable For Me
« on: May 07, 2004, 04:41:00 PM »

I have started having the same problem. Strange thing is, it has worked fine for me for six months. It just started happening, and it is happening so far on new animated releases (Disney and Dreamworks).

Here is my situation, I buy all of my kids movies on DVD (I refuse to spend money on VHS anymore). However, we have a VHS player in our van (not to mention I dont want my six-year-old scratching up a $20 DVD). I use DVDX2 to play the DVD and pipe it out to my VCR to make LEGAL backups to play in our van. I have done dozens of movies like this with no problems, but the last three that I have tried (Lion King 1 1/2, Sinbad and Brother Bear) all lock up anywhere from 10-30 minutes into the movie. The really strange thing is that even though it happens in different places in each movie the same movie freezes in the same place every time.

Is it possible my DVD drive is going bad? Or is it possible they are manufacturing these new DVD's differently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*bump*

And an update: This behaviour seems to present itself only when I'm starting DVDx2 from within XBMP (which is my dashboard), not when I start it from EvolutionX. I'm not sure though, as I haven't tested it enough.
But does anyone know a solution? Besides having to flip over to EvoX every time I want to watch a DVD movie?
