Need Help After Evox Install To Ftp
« on: December 06, 2004, 08:43:00 PM »

Hi Folks,

Running a 1.6 that has been "exploited" with "uxe" by hotswapping. I wish to connect from my computer to the xbox directly.

I have edited the evo.ini settings for IP= 192.168.0.3
w/ subnet= 255.255.255.0

But I cannot connect with FlashFXP.  In my network settings it complains "limited connectivity" or something similar.

I have also using the hotswap method placed "dvd2xbox" on my E: drive.  Why doesn't it show up in "apps"?

Thank you for your time,

are you using a direct connection between pc and xbox? if so the problem is probly that you need a crossover cable instead of a regular ethernet

Hi Spaceboy727,

I am using a crossover.  I edited my network settings on my comp to 192.168.1
with subnet=255.255.255.0

now my connection just times out in Flashfxp.

Now howabout that other ?
Why doesn't "dvd2xbox" show up?  Do I have to create a folder on C: or E: called apps?

thanks to all

yeah put the folder in e called apps, if you upgraded your hdd you can use the f drive, then evox will find it automatically as far as your networking goes if that wasnt a typo for your pc's ip (which im assuming it was) it needs to be 192.168.0.xx (the first three pairs have to be the same on both) so like 192.168.0.3 xbox and 192.168.0.5 pc should work

make sure in the settings in evox you have static ip set to yes, and make sure that at the top of the settings menu the ip you set is showing up

if none of that helps, post again and i'll think more, lol

THANKS!

Yes Typo!
No the IP does not show up at the top. (o.o.o.o)

The IP shows up lower (the one you can modify using the controller.

Great!  I will add folders "Apps" and "Games" and see if they show up.  What's one more hotswap eh?

Thanks again for the help I was gettin' to the FREAK OUT stage!

I don't know if you got it already, but if you are using Windows Xp check to make sure your firewall is not on, if you use a firewall check it.

Thanks for the reply!

Nope! Zone alarm is off.

I discovered another problem!  When I use xbrowser to look at the hard drive password text it says: "no such file or directory"  I HAVE used the "backup" on the evo dash.  What's up with that!

Can I clone my hd without the password!

Damn I thought I was getting closer!

I still cannot FTP to my xbox. Trying to connect computer straight to xbox. How many wires are actually used in the cable? I have 4 wires and they do crossover.

My xbox reports connected and it gives a mac address and full \duplex.  The IP address at the top is 0.0.0.0
The IP address below is 192.168.0.3 subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway is blank but both DNS are 0.0.0.0

In my network properties I have assigned my comp address 192.168.0.1  with gateway blank and subnet mask 255.255.255.0  Gateway is blank and dns are blank because my properties won't let me put 0.0.0.0.

I am using flashfxp.  Using xbox for name and password. Pasv not checked (evo)
and it trys to connect but times out.  I know I am close but what am I doing wrong?

Your pc network settings should read.

Ip 192.168.0.5
subnet 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.0.1

Xbox

Ip 192.168.0.3
subnet 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.0.1

Leave DNS allone

Your pc can't be the default gateway!

Well I changed the settings and still no luck the connection just times out.

Can someone post the "advanced settings" of flashfxp that they are using to connect directly to the xbox?  I have noticed that when I change to passive in the advanced options that the connection fonts change from GREEN to BLUE and there is a (R when green) or (L when blue)

Also, in my network properties section when I manually input a IP address the DNS area also wants me to put something there. (I cannot choose "aquire DNS numbers automaticly")

I am getting close but somethings missing!

Help!

How do you know that you are using a cross over cable?

Well by looking at the color coding of the wires.  And when I use a straight cable I cannot connect to xbox (or the xbox doesn't see any connection)

Man I have read and read and experimented with every Freakin' setting I can find!

What is up!

Can someone tell me the number of wires used.  Looking at ChefElf's tut it looks like only 4.  I have 4 and they are crossed over.
