QUOTE (xviaox @ Jan 7 2004, 11:08 PM)
I'm just doing some search on the DVDX2.......I got my xbox for christmas, and it was premodded and DVDX2 was installed.....it also came with the dongle remote....I tried installing the DVDX v1 but it didn't work....has anyone had a chance to patch this program?

Just get the msdashboard regionfree patch. its not called dvdx 1.
Either u get it from slayers 2.5 or from the usual places...

Works quite nice actually... And if u beforehand copy ur msdash to ur pc, then crack the one on xbox, rename it to msxboxdash.xbe and ftp back over xboxdash.xbe, then u can even use xblive...

Argh,

Why did they remove remote control suppor in DVDX 2.0 ? It was a stupid thing imo.

Will they rls a new version of DVDX with remote control supprt? I know lots of ppl that thinks it sucks w/o that option.

BUT i'll thank them anyway for DVDX and its other feature, only missing this small thing in 2.0 :/

If you like using the remote, why not just get v1 of DVDX?
v1 and v2 is two different things really.

v1 patches your original (v1.0 xbox) ms dash so you can play all regions.
v2 is a standalone DVD player that you have to use with the controller.

v1 does only run on 1.0 boxes, maybe thats why ;)

you can always use the original DVD player that came with Xbox.  I seem to like it just fine.

I'll have to ask Ubergeek is they might send me the DVDX 2 source to add remote support.

It shouldn't be too hard, and would eliminate this question once and for all  :D

yeah, but the problem is, that it isnt region free.
if i want to watch dvds, i normaly use my standalone dvd-player cause it isnt as noisy as my xbox.
but my standalone isnt regionfree either, so the most comfortable way to watch my dvds from other regions is dvdx.

I was just doing some research on the DVDX2 and it led me to this place.   I know this post is about 7 months ago, but I was wondering if the remote support question had been answered yet or not?

You can patch any DAShboard to regionfree. There is a updated tool out there to do it. Its called "MS Dashboard Dvd Region Free Patch" and you can download it from theXbox-Scene Tools page. I doubt we will see the source or a new release of DVDX.

That would be great.  I know that this is an old post, but can you look into this?  My problem now, is that I installed the XIR remote, but I still need the dongle to play movies.  If DVDx2 supported the remote, I wouldn't need the dongle anymore.
