I did look into this.

Unfortunately, it seems the source code has passed on with the sands of time (for whatever reason) and is no longer available.

Sorry... Seems like it was such a simple thing, but I suspect that, as Team Xecuter uses some ancient sources to build their BIOS, the same might be true of their DVDX app (using an ancient build of the XDK, that supports MPEG2/DVD playback) - so it's probably not buildable these days, anyway, unless the old libs and headers could be grabbed.

God just PATCH your MS Dash to make it region free!
Takes no more than 30 secs to do, so I dont see what the problem is?

Patching the MS Dash to be region free does not free you from having to use the dongle.  It just allows you to use any region DVD's with any dongle.

If you want to use the remote, it means you have the dongle, so what's the problem?  dry.gif

There is already a solution for those who want to play DVDs region-free without a dongle -- it's called DVDX2/

No, it doesn't mean that I want to use the dongle.  I have the XIR installed (IR that allows you to turn the XBox on and off w/remote), and I have a programmable remote that I use with all of my other entertainment devices.

I understand that this is a very special case, but I think it's a legitimate request.

I guess I'll just hardwire the dongle into the case.

:::sigh:::

No, you won't be able to use that remote ANYWAY.

The on/off thing is an external device. It cannot send codes as an input device into the Xbox.

Id rather see someone dump the dongle data and either inject it into the dashboard or patch the dashboard to read the info from somewhere else on the hdd.

The msdashboard has support for the gamepad so everything would be ticketyboo.
