QUOTE (eh. @ Dec 4 2004, 01:02 AM)
the dashupdate.xbe on the CD's the first of its kind for another reason too (SFAIK).  Although it contains 185ead00 as expected, that's not what the certificate states.  M$ have given it a very low Version# so it only updates pre-live dash's (and XBL's used to update older live enabled dash's) eh. blink.gif
Note: it doesn't automatically force an update though; it's when you tell it to sign-in (by pressing Y) eh.

Pure guess, but I suspect 4D5300C800000001.dat is used to record this title has been installed, and would prevent it being installed again.

Maybe it's for game specific info. such as the user selectable settings (or possibly off-line highscores)?  If the game reads it, then it might be of interest if it can be re-established from a memcard eh...

The disc is signed to work on any Xbox.

Just order it from MS yourself, or buy the disc off someone else.

If you start sending people files via this forum - please note it is a breech in forum rules.

Update: it does seem to be for the settings and scores, but isn't re-writable via the retail memcard interface (alas) eh.

I was wondering whether partition0 was perhaps the internal reference to the "secret info."s location (such gamertags) eh. uhh.gif

Update: I now suspect that '\Device\Harddisk0\partition0' is indeed the "hidden" partition eh. wink.gif

mad.gif ) philips read some specific brands, and so will a samsung)

3) yes, you can play this as a backup (from a cd, not a dvd) on LIVE without being banned.

edit: spelling so bad some parts were unreadable....

no.... xiso is specific to the xbox dvd drive. You cannot read xiso discs in pc dvd drives... believe me, I've done a LOT of research on the topic.

I was just wondering, though... could we possibly, theoretically, place other signed M$ xbe's on the cd, say, replacing update.xbe with another version, and try that? I suppose it might work, as the xbox is being booted by the default.xbe found on the original cd, and the boot flag has been set by that xbe.... just a question of possibility....

From xbdm.dll (don't ask me what it is, if you don't know already).

I believe this is a symbolic link for an xdk machine's daughterboard, of which connects to an external xbox dvd drive.

IE: Mediaboard = XDK Daughterboard ...

Perhaps, or maybe this is just some of my wishful thinking...

Probably the XDK kit's SCSI array or something. Never know...
