Does anyone know if there is a way to turn the Xbox .SFD video files into either MPG/AVI format?

That's a SEGA video format.

There are actually tools floating around to handle those, IIRC. You have to look for Dreamcast utils to do that, though.

Then you probably won't find anything.

SFD was worthwhile to crack on the Dreamcast, but I'd imagine it will be harder to find anybody to update the tools to handle a newer version for the limited SEGA games on the Xbox.

Actually, Sega games are not using AFS/ADX/SFD formats, example, Panzer Dragoon Orta uses standard Xbox WMV/WMA formats. Other games like Capcom vs SNK 2 or Dead or Alive 3/Xtreme Beach Volleyball are currently using the ADX/AFS/SFD compression technology.

Really?

Wow. OK, well, I never got into the Dreamcast scene to know much about SFD or what the history is there. Perhaps you could ask the developers of those tools to tackle the newer SFD files?

I really do not know much about this subject either, I am just speaking of things that I read in different sites, and I do not know how to contact the developers, still, I am not concerned about this enough to contact this people and ask them to do such a thing for me.

Well, it wouldn't just be for you.... I just made the suggestion because they might not be aware, or they may already be working on it.... never know until you ask, right?  wink.gif

I was able to contact the developer of a tool called "SFD2MPG", I sent him an email regarding this issue. I hope he contacts me back soon.

There was a program released today with a gui.  It works pretty good, just make sure you find a .sfd that is actual video.  I was trying a bunch that was apparently just sound.  I guess I can watch the ending for PSO now, since I'm not going to start my character back over.  Sucks that I got a new HD and now can't put my old save game back in there.  Sorry [/rant]

Good little proggie though biggrin.gif

This program does not work for me, I tried converting the Dead or Alive 3 .sfd files and had problems, still, I found a solution, I used a external mp3 encoding program called SCMPX to convert the "tmp.wav" file into "tmp.mp2", then, the video was successfully converted, still, the video does not look fluid at all.

Well, I noticed a big problem with the conversion for some files from Metal Dungeon.  It seems like they have some issues to work out, but all in all a nice step for converting at least one file type of the movie clips.

I couldn't see any tool for SFD on the XBOX-SCENE main page, can someone help us out.
Do we have a convertor that is confirmed to work for XBOX titles with SFD?
