Xbox -> Xbox Ftp
« on: February 07, 2003, 03:08:00 PM »

Hey,

I have been using programs to transfer stuff from one xbox to another (eliminating the need for a PC), however I just want to know what program is the best to do this.

XB-FTP was working fine until I updated it to the latest version and now my right trigger (to select) doesn't work (perhaps a conflict with IGR)?

XToolBox is okay also (though it lacks a process indicator) and the fact is you need to edit the config file with a text editor everytime you want to connect to a different IP.

Has anyone else found a "better" xbox to xbox ftp tool?

Thanks to anyone who replies.

Oops , if i read another question wrong again slap me !!!! smile.gif

Sorry Atari old man with dodgy eye sight !!

If I was you I'd stick with XB-FTP. If there's an issue with 0.61 then drop back to 0.60 or 0.59 until they solve it. If you believe it is a problem with IGR then disable the Evox IGR as I have found no probs with XB-FTP and X-Ecuter 2 IGR on my Xbox and Evox IGR is disabled on mine after the XBMP problems a while back.

You don't have to edit the host.ini file to use a different IP when using xToolBox, just move the 'focus' to the host list and press the white button to bring up the menu.

The menu will always show the allowed commands

Thanks timbo_1000 for your lengthy reply.  Though I didnt ask about PC -> Xbox transfer, I found your lengthy reply very interesting  wink.gif

Thanks also for your suggestion to turn of IGR in EvoX (I also have the X-ecutor 2 so I'll check if it isnt already turned off).

Thanks tritium for your tip on xToolBox - do you know it says nothing about that in the readme file?   huh.gif

Anyway, thanks for your replies.,

can you connect two xboxes to a dhcp router and use flashfxp from a pc to transfer files from one to other?

I have tried this however I had varied results.

The Setup I was using though was a little strange.

I had 2 xbox's setup via a wireless router (though the xbox's were directly connected via some cat5e cable).
I had a laptop connected to the router via a 802.11b wireless setup.  I could connect to both Xbox's simutaneously using FlashFXP however when I tried to transfer files directly from one to the other, it would at times fail with *some* files. huh.gif

(Maybe) this is because the laptop (running over a mere 4-8mb wireless connection) could not send the instructions fast enough to keep up with the 10mb connection that the xbox's were "talking" to each other via?

I dunno really,, I gave up after about 30 mins.

Has anyone actually connected 2 xbox's and 1 PC over a simple hub?  I reckon that would work fine....

Can you delete a file using flash fxp in the xbox harddrive?

Another question....

How big is exactly the xbox standard HDD on version 1.0 cuz i just installed Slayers ISO automatic installer and my harddrive says that i only have a total of 4.8G and i dont have any game, video or anything installed...  all i have is the slayers installer version 2.0

Should i reformat again? i thought the HDD was about 8G, and if thats the case... what happened to the other 4G ?????

1. Yes you can delete files with FlashFXP.
2. That is your total free space, the xbox needs a couple of gig reserved to other things like caching the latest map you loaded so it will load faster, instead of loading from the dvd all the time.

okay mate,

i should be able to erase a file in the xbox usin flashfxp but....

for some reason..     I cant!!

i dont see why, i dont get it.  I go the drive, select a file...  hit delete and nothing happens!!!

it only says that the operation is queued and i cant do anything afterwards... it stays on queue no matter what i do...

whats up????

Did you press the "Play"-button so it will start going through the files in queue?

Yeah, like i said

i can upload to xbox and download to PC but i cant delete files in the xbox when i use flash fxp. I was able to erase files (i think) but then i updated the software and it messed me up, i guess.

Then i tried WS FTP and im able to delete files using this program, but now...          i cant delete folders, i can only delete files...

but, i have xbox file explorer (was installed automatically usinng slayers auto installer v2.0) and trough this program i can delete files and folders in the xbox.

i was wandering, that because if this program, i may not be able to erase files or folders...

i dont know  unsure.gif
