I dont know how correct that is - like I make perfect divX movies on my laptop and that is only a 4xDVD drive and a PIII 700 with 256mb ram.  Generally the rip takes about an hour, and then the encoding takes about 5-7 hours depending on length..

The cool thing about someone being able to make a "DVD->DivX" proggy for xbox would be that complete idiots could make their own DivX...and considering that space is pretty limited on the xbox (with a max of 137 gigs), you can understand why people are trying to compress and save space anyway they can.

One thing I must say though, whilst not nearly as good as DivX, a properly encoded asf or wmv file running through XB media player looks damn good....No where as good as DivX, but it is more than satisfactory and it saves a shit load of space.
