Hello i am a middelclass beginner on the xbox modding/Tsop, i am a bit rusty because it has been a long time since i was in to the xbox updating and other hack stuff.

Get ready for a real challenge, you are gonna flip on this one.

Here's the problem:

Got the xbox v1.0 from my brother, who modded it a strange way with the enigma chip. He told me he installed it booted it and removed the chip and flashed it with evox.

In short I HAVE A NO-CHIP SOFTMODDED xbox v1.0 evox dashboard.

(I was happy when he gave it to me for christmas in the year 2001 i think)

So recently i dloaded a rare game (The Wild Rings - Jap) that wasn't running on my xbox, so i flashed it first with ''x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin'' and it rebooted only with sound. So i was a bit scared but i pressed some buttons and it work but without video. So i opened the ini file to see how my evox menu's were in order and i manage to re-flash it with ''EvoxM7.bin'' i think. So i was happy to see every thing worinking again and the rare game booted yay  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif).

Ok here it went wrong:
I THOUGHT, I WANT THE BEST BIOS SO I CAN PLAY EVERYTHING!! (D'oh). I dloaded flashbios 3.0.3 and thats where i am, i got the blue screen and i tried most things that would save my xbox like:

1: Google for solutions
2: a solder sharp tsop
3: 3 wire solder solution flash
4: dummy + 256 m8.bin bios to 1 mb through network flash

all of them don't work, what should i do, i keep on getting the blue flashbios 3.0.3 screen and i don't know how to turn of the flashprotection on a no-modchio modded xbox v1.0. So please help me out!!!!!

MY questions are:

1: how do i turn off flashprotection on this xbox, so that i may flash correctly and go on.
2: how do i get past the blue flash screen and re flash to the old bios that worked!! ( if not question 2)

don't have one. it is just the eeprom who needs to reset.
If i can make a switch for a flashprotection than the problem is solved.
And i don't know how to do that with a softmodded xbox.

Why would the eeprom need reset? Also are your tsop points bridged?

yes and tried that, and it didn't work, i flashed it with the wrong bios now i am stuck on biosflash 3.0.3 blue screen.

I searched allot and found out that i need to turn off the flashprotection (something about banks) but dont know how. I did the 3 wire solder and the tsop sharp bridge but no luck. There has been a moment that my xbox was booting 2 or 3 times overagain and a few times booted with red and green light flashing without the blue screen, i though my xbox was going kwakers. but now it is waiting to be repared.

I don't want to be a bother, but i realy like my xbox to work again.

All talk of your downloaded game aside (don't ask for help with piracy!), some notes on BIOSes:

First off, there are three basic ways a console can be modded: By chipping them, TSOP flashing them, or softmodding them.

Installing a modchip means you can over ride the system's BIOS with a hacked one (such as the X2 5035). They can usually be disabled so that the console will use the stock BIOS stored in the TSOP.

Using a softmod means you can mod the system without opening the box. This does not allow you to use a custom BIOS to boot the system.

TSOP flashing involves replacing the system's original BIOS with a hacked one. It provides nearly all the benefits of installing a modchip, however many systems only have small TSOPs and so your choice of BIOS can be a bit limited.

The 1.0/1.1 consoles each have a big 1mb TSOP (enough to take multiple BIOS types if you know what you're doing), though at the other end of the scale the 1.6 console does not have a flashable TSOP at all (and needs a modchip in order to use custom BIOS types). I'm a little foggy on what the other console versions have, I assume they are fitted with 256kb TSOPs.

Bit of a paradox here - If he flashed it after removing the modchip, then the box shouldn't be softmodded anymore - It should fall into the "TSOP flashed" category.

You're lucky it did anything. The X2 5035 BIOS is a good one (it's what I use), but you flashed a version intended for use with a 1.6 console.

Anyway, if you have that file, odds are you have "x2_5035_vOld_512k.bin" as well. That'd work fine with your system (which is older then a 1.6 box).

It's already off (otherwise you wouldn't have been able to flash with that 1.6 X2 BIOS and then reverse the process). Odds are your brother disabled it (it's done by joining a couple of traces on the motherboard).

Unless your TSOP specifically has "Sharp" written on it, methods for this type of chip do not apply to you. Do not use them or you'll fry your box.

So, um, you've got FlashBios installed, but you say it just gives you a blue screen? Do you mean to say it isn't giving you any menu options, or do you just mean you're not sure where to go from there...?!

Leave your EEPROM alone for now. Fix your BIOS issues first.

i mean that i can choose options and i can even use http bios flash method, the problem is that i keep getting unkown flash. the tutorial for biosflash3.0.3 tells when you see that message you need to turn off the flash protection. and i don't know how to do that without a chip. is it possoble that i am useing the wrong biosses?

Best I can make out that message has nothing to do with the BIOS you're trying to flash: It has to do with the chip you're trying to flash it to. It seems FlashBios doesn't recognise your TSOP (there are quite a few different types).

Can you boot from your DVD drive? Pressed discs/burnt discs?

No he can't boot from anything. I did the same thing he did to see what options he would have to fix it. First I flashed a 1mb evox m7 bios to the tsop since that is what he had before flashing flashbios, then I flashed the flashbios file. The only 2 ways i could come up with was to install a modchip or since the flashbios image is only 256k i was able to split the tsop in half with a switch and boot back to the evox m7 bios and reflash the flash bios portion of the tsop thru evox. I would say a switch would be the way to go.

glad to hear that. i tried the switch but i have a little bit of problem soldering the right points, maybe i am soldering wrong. I am a little bit of noob when it comes to the soldering points. can you make a picture of the points that need to be solderd, because the tutorials are unclear to me. like i don't know exactly where the vcc point is and the bridge or the ground.

Please help me to solder to the right points step by step.

Take a good look at this page. What you need to do is connect a wire from one of the two points on the right (A18 or A19) to the ground point on the big capacitor. When you turn the box on, it'll try to boot from a different section of the TSOP - Depending on how your chip has been flashed in the past, it may be possible to get it to "work" this way.

If connections to neither A18 or A19 work, try both at once. Try using a short wire bent in half to connect the points - You can lay this flat on the board and bend it to the correct position before you begin soldering. A longer wire is more likely to move around and bend under it's own weight.

If you're lucky enough to get a combo that'll let you boot the console into something other then FlashBios, solder the wire(s) into that position. Now use your normal flash software (that is, whatever you used to get FlashBios on there in the first place) to install, for eg, the X2 5035 (making sure you use a version for your 1.0 console this time   ).

Once that's done, you should be able to remove the wires and things should be just peachy.  

If you can't find a combo that'll let you get past FlashBios, then you will need to get a modchip.

(Until the day someone comes up with a TSOP flasher similar to the EEPROM reader... I'd love to have access to such a design!   )

owwh man, i tried many times to get past the blue flash screen, what am i doing wrong?
i solderd the a19 and the right side of the capasitator (yellow thing) and the vcc3.3 got the switch. up loaded numerous times  AND STILL GETTING UNKNOWN FLASH HALTING.     AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGHHHHHHHH    

Someone please help me out here.
