Have you tried another monitor?

Compatiblity between the XBOX and most VGA monitors is usually good, but there is a large amount of monitors that won't work with the XBOX's non-standard VGA signals...

Is your monitor an LCD? CRT's usually work best, but my Acer 19" AL1916 LCD is the best i've run across so far for this mod.

Viewsonic monitors are known to work well too.

Follow the tutorial below for the best way of building these cables:

This is a great BIOS  smile.gif. I have it working on my X3 with a HD pack and a component-to-VGA cable.

However, there seems to be a problem with the monitor I'm using, which is a NEC 1760V. Basically, I'm getting horizontal flicker (horizontal lines "jitter" or "jump" a few pixels up and down). Also, I'm getting faint vertical banding across the screen. It's useable, but not the best.

The NEC 1760V is listed in the sync on green database as working, but with a "flicker" issue, which is what I'm seeing I guess.

So my question is: is this just a compatibility issue between my monitor and the xbox's weird VGA signal? Or is there some setting I can change to sort this out? Some HSYNC setting or something like that?

Thanks!

Without tapping into the internal sync lines, it is hard it get a perfectly synced signal.

Building the LM1881N-based diagram in the above tutorial has always worked best for me though, but on a Sync-on-Green monitor I probably wouldn't do much to improve that problem.

If at all possible, I recommend using Viewsonic CRTs with this mod, or Acer LCDs. (from my experience) Because some monitors really just don't like the weird sync and the excessive voltage of the XBOX's component lines (component lines are nowhere near normal VGA specs), and those monitors are simply more friendly with this fact.

Sadly, nothing can be done easily for non-working monitors...

QUOTE
all I want is to watch movies in high resolutions on my HDTV
then all you need is a cable (xbox has a very hard time playing true HD movies, but XBMC will upconvert standard ones)
this bios is for VGA computer monitors only...

EBgames/gamestop did sell a store brand cable that works great for $14.95 (xbox/xbox360)
not the mad cats (junk)
