Need Help Flashing Eeprom With Evox Bios!
« on: January 31, 2007, 01:24:00 AM »

I have a question.  How do I load a custom BIOS into Config Magic so I can flash the on-board EEPROM?  I would like to load a stable BIOS (like EvoX) into the EEPROM after unlocking the hard disk so I can flash the bad boy and then boot up from the hard disk while its unlocked.  The purpose behind this is I want to stick an 80 GB drive in there without chipping the box.  My gut tells me there's a way to do this but I cannot remember how.

Please help.  I already screwed up one box trying and money isn't a great resource for me to be throwing away on new Xbox consoles each time I mess one up.

You do not flash the eeprom! you flash the tsop where your retail bios are and reflash it with hacked bios http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showforum=43
look at the tuts on the pinned topics
Have you looked into softmodding it probley a better alternative

Yes I softmodded it with the exception of the BIOS itself.  I would like to flash the BIOS with EvoX so I can swap out the hard disk.  Is it possible to flash the BIOS and not have a Modchip?

Yes, but you can't have a Xbox v1.6.  http://xbox-linux.or...re_Method_HOWTO

As a side note, you might want to consider not using the EvoX bioses. In my opinion, the X2 bioses are better (and newer). If you have a v1.0 or v1.1 Xbox, I would split it http://xbox-scene.co...tibios-tsop.php  and use at least on of the splits for X2 5035. Else, if you have another (non v1.6) Xbox, then you are restricted to a 256 Kb bios. In that case, I have had a great deal of luck with the X2 4981 or X2 4983 bioses.

Thanks,

You don't need to flash your BIOS to switch hard drives.

Just backup your EEPROM key and use Ndure's xboxhdm method to create a boot disc to format your new hard drive on your computer and lock it with your EEPROM key.

I've softmodded and switched between 20, 40,80 and 320 gigs.  Without flashing the BIOS.  Unless those exploits patched it...
