Softmod Help
« on: June 02, 2004, 02:32:00 PM »

Hello, I attepted the softmod and did everything I was suppose to. I had to down grade my dash. When I boot up MA it loads Evox and it works. I can FTP my box and put the proper files in and did. Then when I went to music tab, black soundtrack to install Evox, I got the bird thing to come up, but after that, its just a black screen and it says "Press A to load the selection Menu". I do and nothing happens. But with PBL you shouldn't have to press A then, Evox should just load up, and it doesn't. I don't know what else to do, please help me.

sounds like you might be missing a rom file in e:\bioses... and to get pbl to boot up without having to press A, you have to change the timeout in e:\boot.cfg to zero or something smaller

It must be a bios problem. With the new PBL version 1.4/1.4.1 you can have multiple bioses. Wherever your PBL is just make a folder called Bioses. And put your bios in there (bfm bios such as x2 4983 or 4981) and if you want it to boot without having to press A name the bios xboxrom.bin. So you should have PBl files and a folder called Bioses with a bfm bios called xboxrom.bin. Then you may need to edit your boot.cfg PBL file and change the 500000 (or close to that) to all zereos so that it will boot without a delay. The original waits for 5 seconds.

Yeah, I've run into this. If you have 2 controllers AND the dvd kit plugged in, pbl hangs. Remove 1 of the above, and it'll boot fine. Then add extra controllers.
