Audio Exploit Trouble
« on: June 01, 2004, 11:45:00 AM »

okay i've done this so many times...so i don't know why it's not working now. i'm helping this kid out over aim to get audio on his box. it's a 1.0 box and i had to upgrade the dash to 4920. so i copied over evoxdash.xbe and evox.ini to his C drive. and i put the PBL files onto his E. and i put the ST.DB on. (checked his boot.cfg and it's fine) now when he does the key sequence, the bird starts and then the black screen where it says 'press A to enter selection menu'...but it stops after there. now like i said i've done this many times before...and i'm just wondering if there's something i may have missed or overlooked. it's also tough helping someone out over aim when you can't see his box.

Alright, so you made sure the xboxrom.bin bios is there and customized to boot to C:\evoxdash.xbe? You double-checked to see that the boot.cfg file has both the rc4 key and eeprom keys? Also, what kind of controller is he using?

well i changed the boot.cfg to point to 4981.06_bfm.bios. and the rc4 key and eeprom keys are in the boot.cfg. and he used an AR to get the original gamesave on. i was surprised that that worked.

now about customizing it to boot to C:\evoxdash.xbe...i did not do that. is that needed to be done only for the audio exploit? because i sent him the same files that i am using on my box (font and audio).

if you use the x2 4981 bios you don't need to edit it to look for evoxdash.xbe cuz it is allready in the default boot order. What happens if you press A and try to load the bios manually? Maybe pbl don't like the _ underscore or something why not just rename to xboxrom.bin?

It sounds like it might be a USB error.  Try to unplug everything except one controller.

yeah the thing about that i don't understand though is on my box i have the bios named the same, and named the same in the boot.cfg. so i don't know why it won't work on his box. but i'll tell him to change it to xboxrom.bin to see if it helps any. and when he pressed A it just froze.  <_<

Does he want to use Live!. If not, why don't you tell him to try the UDE exploit. It works great!!  :D But it doesn't solve the PBL problem.

You CAN get the audio exploit to work with Live 2.0, but you still need some of the 4920 files in order to do so.
