Live 2.0 Compatible Exploit

Ah! - Of course.  I concur Captain.
(Still it'd be nice for someone to verify that the Dashboard's same XBE loader is being used and this doesn't in fact work.)

double-dash exploits now have workarounds that allow the disks to be swapped

explain please

The ROJ issue only becomes a problem when you want to insert a DVD-R disk.  With the both exploits, you simply eject the DVD tray while the boot dashboard is still visible and before
for double dash - you press the XBOXLive button (I believe  unsure.gif )
for easter egg -

Have the dvd drive open, go to music, <<Eggsßox>>, copy, copy, NEW SOUNDTRACK, and erase "Soundtrack 1" and type out: <<Eggsßox>>

I ran the update on Live and then installed the Easter Egg with K: 4034 and D: 5960 and  everything works fine(Live/Hack). The update didn't kill anything pertaining towards this.

Useful finding, but it now looks like it's Kernel 5713 that may cause an issue.

*sigh* - Because we know the double-dash exploit doesn't work on some newer Kernels.  (We're hoping the easter egg exploit may.)

From X-S news page: MS Dashboard Updated

QUOTE

Today (5/18/04) we are pushing a small update to the Xbox Dashboard. This update addresses a couple of backend issues (that I can't outline for security reasons.) There are no new features or enhancements that members will see as a result of this update. This is a a VERY small update...so small that many folks won't notice, but I know this group will. Thanks.

I wonder......

I believe this was to patch 5960 so that /C/xodash/xonlinedash.xbe did not load anything other than their Xbox Live dashboard (I tried upgrading to 5960 and performing the Double-dash exploit. When you do replace it, the Xbox will boot to the error code 21). You guys are right, maybe this should have waited until Live 3.0 came out.

But what is the fun in that wink.gif

Anyways, to all the Live users, I would start backing up your entire C drive just incase.

and to PedrosPad, thanks for the following:

I currently have this installed on the latest Xbox Live dashboard: "5960" and it works flawlessly.
NOTE: On a Halo SE Xbox with kernel 5101

In the two posts above are you saying that, on the same configuration, the double-dash exploit doesn't work, but the easter egg exploit does?  This would be an interesting finding.

Yes, I am saying exactly that. The Easter-egg works fine, but the Double-dash does not. What is throwing me off is the error code 21 on bootup.

K:5101
D:5960

NOTE: On bootup I receive this error code 21, not when I click on the Xbox Live tab (I do not even get that far)

I added a file at a time to see exactly what file caused the error 21. I found out it occurs when you replace the xonlinedash.xbe with something other than what is supposed to be there (signed or not).

For those with newer kernels that will not allow a dash-downgrade what about a triple-dash?

Or would the 5960 fonts in c:\fonts not work with a 4920 dashboard? (If only there was a third place that a signed dashboard looked for its files)

Devz3ro, try replacing it with a file of the same exact size, it could be a size difference it is checking.

Could you use the Easter-Egg hack just as an audio exploit so you can reset on eject? I'm assuming you couldn't use sountracks then. I'd rather not have 2.0 dash and have my music than the other way around. Great work though, I love the DD hack!!!
