Dvd Drive Bios

ok so my dvd drive is a bust, i want 2 replace it w/ a pc dvd drive , and ive read that u have 2 flash the bios 2 pass the dvd check, how would i add that 2 my evox.ini and what would the bios be?/

i have a softmodded xbox

I think its much easier to just buy a replacement Xbox dvd drive than to try and fit a modified PC drive. First you're going to have to solder the mobo to allow the TSOP to be flashed. Then you're going to have buy or modifiy a certain type of pc dvd drive (only certain ones work after some firmware modification). Then you need to re-rip all your backups so the new non xbox drive can read em. I'm not 100% sure on all of this so anyone who knows better feel free to correct me. I'm just going on scraps of info I've stumbled across the forums over my time here. But yeah sounds like too much hastle to me.

its actually my froends xbox, and neither him or i have the money to get a new drive, but ur right, it does sound hard, if ne 1 can help...please do
