Need Bios Setup Recommendations For X2.6 Chip
« on: August 26, 2006, 07:37:00 PM »

i think if you were to able to hex edit the 5035 bios and find the string where it looks for the x2config.ini file and change it to something else, it might seem possible. dunno, if xecuter encrypted the 5035 bios like they did with the 4983 bios you won't be able to do it.

edit.

surprise surprise. you can hex edit the 5035 bios. get your self a hex editor and have it look for text "x2config.ini" without the brackets

x2config.ini=7832 636F 6E66 6967 in hex

it's at addresses' 00073795 and 000737D5

change those to a file you specify and give it a go. it should work. hope it helps. hmmm...come to think of it..you might also be able to change where the bios looks for the x2config.ini file in the partitions too. so you could technically place the x2config.ini file in a different folder by just changing where it looks for the file in the partitions. so with those 2 5035 bios' you'll have taken up 1mb of your bios bank space

make sure though when you change anything in the bios, check the file size is still 512kb like the original. it must be 512kb.

edit.

it seems if you change the x2config.ini to anything more than 8 characters excluding the ini part, it will change the file size of the bios. adding an extra character to mine changed the file size to 513kb. so try to keep it 8 characters for now
