Jesper, what you need to do to get PBL 1.3 to work is to download it Audio signed, copy its contents to E:feenix, but do not use the bios that comes with the package. I used the bios that came with the old font signed PBL which I knew already pointed to C:evoxdash.xbe. Unfortunately I don't know what exactly these bioses are, but these steps did get PBL 1.3 to run perfectly under the Mechinstaller fonts at the beginning of this tutorial.

In the usual places the only PBL 1.3 I can find is "Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader_V1.3" which I believe is signed with fonts. And I have used the default bios in that and it does not seem to work at all. Oh well I changed the wait time in 1.3.5 to 0 so it boots up pretty quickly now. Though I might give it another try tonight if I have time.

Hey people, just wondering what the clock loop issue is like when installing this one..

Also, I belive the tutorial should say to use the M7 BIOS as far as I know, thats the only one compatible with ALL xboxes... Inluding 1.4-1.5s

Thats about it?

I still have not seen anyone who has been completely stuck in the clock loop. People have been having different luck, some cycle once and then get to the clock set while others it takes them a few hours.

Just wanted to add I am currently using X2 4979 with no problems.  Also the longest clock reboot problem I have been stuck in is 3 minutes....thats right 3 MINUTES (without ethernet), anyone using the font method should seriously be looking at this solution!!!!

I just have to tell you guys that I'll be off the internet for a while, so it's likely I won't be able to update this tutorial again or answer any questions. If I have access I will, but it's unlikely.  Sorry. sad.gif

just to imform you guys i guess im the first to find an xbox that gets stuck in an infinte clock loop with these fonts. Did a friends yesterday and they brought it back to me and I sat it overnight with no luck sad.gif. of the 5 xbxos i did with this exploit 1 failed to get out of loop.  it appears to be a original xbox. even today i had to hotswap and put bigfonts on with no luck also sad.gif . Looks like this box can't be moded with software. Anyway just want to relay the info.

Damn that sucks. I was hoping this would be a "loop free" fonts...  sad.gif

Did the mechinstaller fonts let you load evox before it got stuck in the loop. Cause it seems a bit weird that even bigfonts won't work.

Was the box made in September of this year? I'm not sure if you've been following the thread about "Fonts failing on beast xboxes". Though its a bit of a different problem where PBL will load and but then it will freeze. Seems that only boxes made in September are affected.

So, thats one box with the loop using these fonts. Who knows if this guy had a wierd install...thats why we need a mech installer so we dont have to wonder like this. I will still consider these fonts deadly-loop free  tongue.gif .

If we get one more report like this, then we should be alarmed.

QUOTE (fof E @ Dec 3 2003, 04:23 AM)
hi, I installed the Mechfonts-feenix fonts on a brand new xbox (tetris-SW bundle), I also uploaded to e:feenix the PBL 1.3.5i and here is my question:
my PBL1.3.5i wasnt signed for audio I signed it myself with XBEdump (first -audio then -habibi) I renamed both out.xbe to default. I prepared the boot.cfg with the debug RC4 key and both eeprom keys, i used the X2 4977 bios and one of the latest evox as c:evoxdash.xbe. when I boot pheonix from MSdash I get the phoenix image waving around the screen and then a black screen with white letters also waving like some kind of distrortion im stucked without getting evox to run
does anyone know what i did wrong?

thx

You should only need to sign it with -habibi (and I'm not sure where you put both of the default.xbe without overriding each other).

Also if you xbox is new it would most likely be a v1.4 or v1.5. Therefore you need to use either the M7 bios or 4979 and make sure you have download a Boot from Media (BFM) bios.

afon yea im looking into a bad install right now i reset the box to default and installed exactly like a working box in hope of a bad install i will keep you guys posted once the xbox loses its time. Later

Thanks, this will indeed help us very much. The only thing i can think of that would invalidate the clock-loop bypassing abilities is having excess .xtf's in your fonts dir. Because the xbox doesnt look for fonts by name, it looks for them by certain headers in the xtf file, time wasted by the xbox looking for the correct fonts could hinder such abilites.
