QUOTE
Is there any advantage to doing this exploit as opposed to the Audio exploit?

Well as far as I can tell. And before I say anything bear in mind I have not got round to using either.

The audio exploit and mechinstaller are similer becuase you run them from the M$ dashboard.

However, mechinstaller is a lot simpler to run as it replaces your Xbox-Live tab with the words "Evox" or "Pheonix"

The Audio exploit runs using a sequene of key presses on your game pad or remote. Also you need an Audio CD in the drive, however there is a way around this I belive.

Also, mechinstaller is a font hack, and is therefore prone to the clock loop! Even tho 90% of people probably wont get this, you never know.

So to answer your question. IMO there is no advantage.
Sure its COOL changing your Live tab to something else! But I just dont trust the fonts.

However:
When the REAL mechinstaller comes out (not in these forums) I think it may have an option to use Audio insted of fonts?

But I dont really know.  blink.gif

Last night, for shits and giggles I unplugged my xbox, and it was off for about 7 hours. I woke up, plugged it in and turned the box on to see if the clock loop was 'really' fixed.

AND suprise

no

It stuck in the loop for about 20 resets then finally reset to the set clock screen. Is this normal?, or in the linux teams version do they not get caught at all?

I was using BluhDeBluh's edit at the beginning of this post. Does anyone have Xboxhakurs original hack? i would like to test that out. since i made a newbiefied package:
http://forums.xbox-s...T&f=45&t=127287

If anyone has had different results let me know.

Well, since you dont get 'stuck' in the 'loop' i would therefore call it something else...Maybe like Temorary clock resets...TCR? Yeah, lets call them the TCR's. Mechinstaller has the TCR problem. I dont believe the Mechassault has ever had the clock 'loop', i hear most everyone comes out of the Clock problem.

Firstly a big thanks to BluhDeBluh for the tute, worked like a charm except for with PBL 1.3

Could somebody who has got this working with PBL 1.3 be able to post a little run through of what they did? I cannot get it to work at all (1.3.5 works fine). I prefer PBL 1.3 as it seems to load a bit faster.

I've tried from scratch with "Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader_V1.3" signed with habibi
I've tried using a direct copy of Morden's files signed with habibi and fonts

None of them work... dry.gif

Oh and here is the code that I'm using to remove/install the fonts hack, never can be to sure of the clock loop  smile.gif  I copied and edited them from someone else's post, can't remember who's sorry.

CODE
[Action_12]

Info "Remove Fonts"
Warning "This will turn off the font exploit"
Progress "Turning off font exploit..."
rename "c:fontsbert.xtf" "c:fontsbert.bak"
rename "c:fontsernie.xtf" "c:fontsernie.bak"
rename "c:fontsXBox Book.bak" "c:fontsXBox Book.xtf"
rename "c:fontsXbox.bak" "c:fontsXbox.xtf"

[Action_13]

Info "Install Fonts"
Warning "This will turn on the font exploit"
Progress "Turning on font exploit..."
rename "c:fontsbert.bak" "c:fontsbert.xtf"
rename "c:fontsernie.bak" "c:fontsernie.xtf"
rename "c:fontsXBox Book.xtf" "c:fontsXBox Book.bak"
rename "c:fontsXbox.xtf" "c:fontsXbox.bak"

Put the above after the menu section and somewhere in the menu section the following code

Item "Install Fonts",@213
Item "Remove Fonts",@212

Off topic, does anyone know where you can get a summary of all the evox commands?

I would also like to extend a thank you!  This exploit is great.  I left my machine unplugged over night to test the  clock loop and I came out with good news.  It rebooted once and then came up to set the clock.  I am assuming this is what its suppose to do.  THANK YOU BluhDeBluh!!!

If possible, if you have used these fonts and have tested for the clock bug could you please tell me:
1. What version your Xbox is, if known. Estimate if you don't know
2. Whether you had an Ethernet Cable plugged in
3. Did it come out of the loop straight away?

Ta. Just want to see if there is a pattern.

BTW, I don't know anything about PBL 1.3 I'm afraid since I've only tried it with 1.3.5i.

I have 2 xboxes now with the exploit functioning great.  Both boxes are 1.3 running PBL 1.3.5.  No ethernet jack, it turns on reboots once and bam at the set clock screen.  Trying a 1.0 tonight will let you know the outcome.  Switching subjects, has anyone experienced problems with IGR in X2 4979.  When I do IGR it resets the game instead of going back to evox, however with 4977, IGR reboots back to evox.  Both bios from the usual place.

Xbox is version 1.2
Ethernet cable is plugged in
It resets once then allows me to set the clock. I've only tried this twice.
Running PBL 1.3.5.
