Yup.

Morden.

Jeff.... Learn to use IRC... Trust me on this one! wink.gif

well I found a little tutorial site and I was able to do the tutorial and talk a little but OK.  However when I went to connect to efnet.demon.co.uk it just said connected then disconnected.  Nothing else.  Are there other mirror servers in the US that I could try?  Do IRC Servers even have mirrors?  Or is that the wrong site all together?

I used a more distant friend to get it.  I can't wait until I get a hold of Mech Assault now.

Ok, the new packages should be up there. Those of you upgrading please look in the readme for upgrade instructions.

All the issues I know about should be fixed, with the possible exception of BIOS sizes. Check it out and let me know!

Hey guys, I was looking at the thread on replacing/removing the phoenix logo, and liked one of the pics there.

But, I didn't think the phoenix logo was integrated well, so made my own (very similar, but I didn't steal the one there, just started with the same base image, the chrome X, and went from there).

I know my photoshop skills suck so try not to burn me too much, but I think it looks quite nice when bringing up my XBox!

Huh?

With Woogers tool you already need to be able to FTP into the machine, so you would have to already have hacked it, or used the gamesave.

Woogers tool requires that you use a PC to make changes.

Woogers tool doesn't add any funtionality to the exploits, mine does.

Woogers tool isn't exactly portable.

But....

Woogers tool IS nice, it supposedly will preconfigure everything the way you want before sending it to the X. Mine is configured the way it needs to be to work, if you want other changes you have to make them yourself.

They are similar, but not the same.

I don't know how you can say it's not as automatic. Both require you to get a hack on the box (gamesave) before use.

Woogers install the hacks, but doesn't really improve them any.

Mine only installs one hack, but does so without fear of the time problem or loss of the ability to rip music, as a price there are a couple of manual steps you must take.

It is really a matter of personal choice. Both are nice. Both have things the other doesn't.

It's really up to you as to what you want.

The S-Type controller works fine. As far as the button combination, that is the way the Audio exploit works. Yes you have to do it every time you want to bring your system up "mod-on". The disadvantage is that you have to do the button combo, the advantag... Well you can bring it up normal so there is no way to tell you have modified the syste.

Basically it allows you the control of a modchip, something you can't do with the font exploit.

It also prevents the clock issue and looping.

But to be honest, once you have done it a couple of times you can do it in less than 2 seconds. It's so easy you stop noticing that you even have to do it!

Can I use the USB linker included with the Action Replay to do the transfer?

i.e (I have an action replay).

I would assume so, you will need to follow the instructions in the readme to create an action replay "compatable" save, but sure... it should work I guess....

I don't have one, I made my own, so I'm guessing here.

Just for clarification so i know that I'm not misundertanding, use it to do what?

Nope. That should work. My doc doesn't step by step tell you how to convert the save to an action replay save, but you should be able to figure it out. there is a file you need to add, it's datelinfo.xbx or something like that. The action replay software creates it, so copy it out of one of the action replay save you already have. then zip the udata folder up and import it into the action replay.

Hmmmm... Perhaps I will put this file in the next package myself.... We'll see!

So as a side note, has anyone who used the rev 2 of the package had any issues yet?

Well like most everything else, I read ALL the tut's, then figured it out on my own anyway. So I can't really reccomend any. But read a bunch of them, that will give you a feel for what you need to do.

I think what people don't understand is that with any BIOS but X2 you WILL lose the ability to boot unless you give up some of the functionality of the package.

The issue is that only X2 supports dash names long enough to find the dash as it is in a subdirectory

Im not at home, but if i remeber right, your package comes with x2 bios 4977.  I believe x2 has a newer bios, 4978, If I am not mistaken.  Is it possible then to just swap the old x2 bin with the newer version x2 bin?

I just want to be able to play "all" of my backed up games is possible.  I do remember reading that some one was able to play conflict desert storm with the newer x2 bios.

TIA

Morden, what do you think about PooN's idea? Would this work? If so, will we loose any functionality of your package? Sorry to keep bothering you, but if this will work then it's a good start

Ideally, if the BIOS was configured correctly, this should work.

But I haven't seen anyone say that this BIOS fixes any of the issues with these games.

I'm picking up ETM in the next few days so we will see.

http://forums.xbox-s...ct desert storm

Check this link out Morden and Solo.  Here they talk about which bios's are working with conflict desert storm.  It seems though that they are unsure of why it does not run on 4977. (Conflict Desert Storm is the first game I have not been able to run on my softmode xbox)

And i was wrong, if u check the link out, they say evox d6 bios work and 4817bfm which im sure is a x2 bios.  Now im not too familiar with BFM bios's, but the bfm tells me I need to make a cd and i don't want to be swapping CD's.

Now I only started playing Bios's last night when I got home after I read Mordens reply on how to use XBtool, but it would only make sense to me that if 4977 worked 4978 should work too.  The only problem is 4978 has some issues with xbtool. There is even a note that comes with the latest download of xbtool concerning 4978 and the only x2 4978 bios that works with xbtool is 4978.03, which i tried last night.

Morden, I followed your directions step by step and was able to open the 4978.03 file, my problem was that I could not change where the bios would look for xbe files.  I was able to look at them with evox's d6 and m7, but it did not work.  Would it be possible for you to look at the new bios?  I know you are busy.   Or if you can, just give me some pointers on xbtool on how i could configure this bios.  I was up all night messing with bin files with no success.
