New Bios Didn't Flash...
« on: May 25, 2006, 06:27:00 PM »

I have a new (old) xbox with an xecuter 2.6 pro chip i think.  It wasn't booting any dashes so I made a boot disk to boot it.  I figured I'd flash the x2 5035 to it configured with stuff where I wanted it to boot.
I loaded up flashx on my boot disk and told it to flash the x25035.bin I created (used x2 config maker).

FlashX now say Programming... in the upper left of the screen is exactly half way across. its been there for a loong time.

I'm wondering since in the past I've only ever flashed 256k bios' and never changed the dip switches, was I supposed to change any of the dip switches on it to flash a 512k bios?

When I decide to turn this thing off and it probably will be hosed with half a bios on it, what are my options?

I recall there was some cromwell boot disc I could make but can find any info on that at the moment?

I also have the parallel port connection off the chip but have never used it before so don't know whats required there?

Any info is appreciated.

Edit:  ok I was able to not panic and found the old dip switch image I had.  I set them to 512 for bank 1 & 2 and then it flashed.  Only problem now is that purple xecuter rox my box logo.
I have the x2 config maker but still don't see anywhere in there how to load a new logo, what size it needs to be, or where it needs to be stored.

So to answer all my questions:

i did have to change my dip switches.  There is an image still on the team-xecuter website.
Not sure why I was still able to boot after the first bad flash but good for me.

As far as the logo, that is answered here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=506778

So can continue posting there.
