Oops, looks like my post got cut off.  Anyway, he's right, you have to either have a soft mod or a mod chip in order to run unsigned code on an xbox.  A stock xbox runs a stock bios which forces everything to be signed.  So, read up and find out what you want to do (soft or mod chip).  And don't listen to him about having it professionally done...just read a little and figure things out on your own, it's not that hard, and if you can get through the people that aren't very helpful, most will give you good advice (if you put effort into searching for a solution first).

you need to soft mod your xbox first. then you can read burned cd/dvds... go to the game save exploits or xbe exploits fourm....you will need a memory card and a friend with a modded xbox!!

This is not a flame, but you need to kick your friends in the nuts, they are liars.
Unless they mean music cds, which can be run and even copied to your xbox on  an unmodded box..
Right now the ONLY unsigned code that will run on an unmodded box is some version of linux, and even then, you need to have a Cromwell bios flashed.

That said, you can gain access to the HD by means of a "HOT SWAP" using your p.c.  Please do a search if you intend to do that, there are PLENTY of tutorials.

Now even if you get Access to your xbox somehow, and transfer files to it.. without some hacked/modified bios OTHER than the original MS bios you WILL NOT be able to run unsigned code.. ie backup games, dashboards like Evox etc..

QUOTE(Scorp16 @ Oct 6 2005, 06:26 PM)
I have been searching around but I don't think I'm understanding it correctly than. What I am trying to do is Soft Mod (Not physical Mod-Chip (I think?)). What I virtually want to be able to do is FTP my PC and XBox. In order to do that I need EvoX and I already have FlashFXP. Once I FTP into my XBox I know what to do from there. The problem is, I need to figure out how to FTP into it. I was told you need EvoX Dashboard which is put on your XBox by burning the .iso to a CD-RW and Cold Booted. The person I was talking to said he does NOT have a mod-chip so that's where my question came in. In the Tut's it says Mod-Chip is REQUIRED. Was he BS'ing me? Or do you not need a mod-chip to read a CD-RW?
