I Can't Access F & G Drives
« on: July 04, 2005, 10:13:00 AM »

I have a 1.1 box with a Xenium ICE.  It boots to OS 2.0.  I ran the drive upgrade wizard, and it says it worked.  I have a 300 GB HDD.  I first tried it with F & G drive, but once I installed evox m8 and evox dash 3935, It doesn't recognize the g drive at all.  I edited the evox.ini to look for games and apps on the g drive, and setup the dash to enable f and g drives, but it doesn't seem to see the g drive.  Also, when I ftp into the evox dash, it shows the g drive, but won't let me open it.  When I ftp into the xenium os, it lets me use the g, but not the f drive.  I went back, and reformatted the drive, and ran the upgrade wizard again, this time with F only.  Now evox sees about 137 GB of the drive, slightly more than it saw before, but still missing most of the drive.  What now?

I have similar problem with my 1.1, and I am only using a 160G HDD.
Neither XBMX nor Avalaunch can see the directories and files I put on F:,
but C: and E: are ok.  I still couldn't figure out where the problem was.
Is there a way to specify a bigger E: with the upgrade wizard?

For your 300GB HDD you'll need an F + G too use all your space. To do this, you need a 67 LBA48 supporting bios. m8 (at least out of the box) isn't. If it's a 1.0-1.4 xbox, I recommend using x2 4981; if it's a 1.6, use m8plus_16, but modify it with evtool first to enable lba48 support. (You can also uses x2 5035.. but I don't like it as much (personally))

Again, make sure you flash an lba48 aware bios. For your 160GB HDD, a large F will suffice; use an 06 bios.

Thanks again appleguru.
Does the Xenium OS has any part to play in here? I have not upgraded to ver 2.3 yet, was wondering if I really need to.
I am using a EVOX bios M7 which I customized with XBTool, that should give me LBA48 doesn't it?

I kind of have the same problem on my xbox too, when I try to ftp into the xbox, one day the F drive dissapeared. Also, on the same day, my EvoX skin changed and it doesn't even have a play games from harddrive thin gon the menu. Anyone know how I can fix this?
