X2 5032 On Pcbioxx 1mb Chip
« on: June 05, 2005, 03:26:00 AM »

Hi,

i havent updated my BIOS since 2004 or so.
Which tool can i use to bring the latest X2 into a 1MB file.
I have a PC-BIOxx Chip,  the predecessor of the Smartxx.

I checked XBtool but the new X2 isnt listed there.

thx

NOTE: store the x2config.ini file that comes with the bios u download (X2.5032 etc) onto either F or E partition on your xbox's hard drive.

have a good day

My Chip only can hold one 1024k BIOS, there is no way to use 2 banks or something.
In the past i used a bash script to convert it to 1MB,  that script came with the BIOS'es itself.

CODE
copy /b 512.BIN + 512.BIN 1024.BIN

this will output a 1mb file by joining the 512kb file.

@gonkle:

i got a BIOXX too!   smile.gif

try iND-BiOS 5003.  i prefer it over X2 because it is more customizable and it has some interesting features.  X2 5035 is starting to catch up though.   tongue.gif

well in general... "if it aint broke, dont fix it" ... that might be a good idea to not mess with anything on your xbox if it's working.

i know im one of those people who likes to "play" with bios's and stuff but for the average joe they only care that there xbox works and if thats your main consern i would probably not mess with your modchip since it's working fine like it is.

but if u insist on trying another bios i would probably stick with something i KNOW will work as a 1MB file and thats X2.4981 (if u want to customized it) or the X2.4983 ... these only work on 1.0-1.5 xbox's though. .... or u can mess around with the iND-BiOS like one of the guys stated above.

if u got a 1.6/1.6b xbox then your pretty much stuck with the evox m8 type bios's since the X2.5032 i dont think can be ran as a 1MB bios file... but im not 100percent sure on this... i would have to check sometime on my modchip and see what happends... cause if i screw up my modchip i can revive it with the programmer thats built into it (printer port out the back side of xbox)

just my thoughts... have a good day and good luck.

I flashed the chip and everything works fine, right now im using the latest xecuter, after my exams i will try some others.
Just used the copy /b command to make a 1MB file.
The textmessage from the xecuter that it checks something or so is a bit disturbing....

thx to all
