I have been reading the"Hacking the XBOX" book by Bunny Huang and don't quite understand the part about the Jam Table and the opcode interpreter that occurs at the very start of the initialisation process. Is this a generic term or just coined for the xbox?
I had a quick search on google but could not find anything similar described. I understand what is happenning is that the bios is starting up all the peripherals and getting the key for the encrypted os and then decrypting it.....
As I understand it there is a table of opcodes and parameters that is called by another part of the BIOS. But I am not sure why things happen this way. Why this level of indirection? Do other systems use this method?
I had a quick read of Intels Initialisation document but didnt know how that fitted in...
