Okay, I softmodded with UXE and have PBL metoo running on it. I looked around at the pinned posts for information about which bioses work and do not work, but none of those bioses were BFM.

My evox m8 was not even listed as working or not working. My question is what is a good BFM bios to use with the 128mb ram upgrade.

Also, for a softmod, would this bios work with linux and enable it to use 128mb of ram? (I am using Damn Small Linux at the moment).

hi

if you can solder ram then you are allot better off with a chip as well, it almost seems stupid having softmod and then opening your xbox to put ram in.

but again its up to you.

and all the hacked bios like m8 are compatibile with the ram, in fact it has nothing to do with the bios its the apps and games the bios lets your run, for example the extra ram will not help the normal xbox games as they were built to run on only 64mb but when you start running homebrew apps, emulators and linux, thats alot quicker.

Yes, I am aware that it doesn't affect retail games. I want it for Linux and Surreal 64 (maybe Mame also).

I don't care about buying no chip. And I am not the one who is installing the ram chips (I know an expert solderer).

From what I have heard, you need an Xecuter 2 bios for the Xbox to recognize more than 128mb of ram, and then you need to use the ram delimit to make everything work.

So, are you sure that all hacked bioses work? From what I saw in the compatiblity thread, none of the evox bioses worked, but evox m8 was not even listed as compatible or uncompatible.

Again I ask, what BFM bioses will work. Also, since I am not chipped, should I use the ram delimiter and new bios before I upgrade?

x2 4981/83 will work.

dont know about m8 but as long as you have a 1.0-1.5 (you must for ram upgrade) you might as well tsop flash it (if you dont use live) and I would just use the x2 bios.

lol, guys, I am looking for a straight answer here.

No, I don't want any "go ahead and TSOP flash" or "just get a modchip". A softmod was my decision. I have no current plans to change it. As far as I am concerned, for me, any benefit of a chip over a softmod has already been dealt with. (IE easier hdd install, slayer's, etc). Again, that is my opinion.

I want to know the answer to the question in the first post I made in this thread. If all you want to say is that you are against softmods and think hardmods are better, keep that to yourself.

I just want to know 128mb compatible BFM bioses and if evox m8 (from PBL metoo) is compatible also.

all right here's a straight answer I dont belive m8 suport's 128mb however x2 4981/83 I know does as that's what I use in my 128mb 1.0 so I say use the x2 bios and be done with it
