Evox M8 Hard Drive Limit?
« on: January 20, 2005, 10:16:00 PM »

I have an xecuter 3 with the x3 bios and the m8 bios and just put a 300gb hdd in it. Everything loads really slow on the x3 bios and boot sequence freezes on m8. The hard drive is the only problem i could think of because i did one with both of those bioses last week with a 200 gb hdd with no problems. If anyone knows i would appreciate the help and if you have a solution for me even better.
Thanx

Unless you edit the bios, you can only -use- upto 137 gig.  It wont prevent the bios from loading though.

the x3 chip has lba support thought that would take care of that, but anyway it boots slow to the x3 bios and freezes on the m8. Should i reflash? Other hard drives work in it too biggest i have to try around here is 80 gb though other than the 300gb.

The chip does not have lba48 support, that is a bios feature.  You probably have something wrong that isnt related to bios at all.  Like loose cables, bad jumper settings, a solder splash, over heating, etc.
